Since Alyssa was fast asleep, I decided to head out in the city even though it was like three in the morning. It wouldn't matter how long I stayed out since I had no classes tomorrow, and I had finished all my work already so there was no need to worry for that. I already knew that Alyssa wouldn't wake up till later in the afternoon, so I was planning to use my time wisely.
I slipped on my black Toms and my wooly cardigan that was the softest thing on Earth. It always kept be warm and cozy; it feels like I'm
back in bed back home in Pennsylvania. I remembered to grab the keys and my phone just incase there's an emergency or what not. There wasn't much to do at three in the morning in New York City, unless you were partying, which was most definitely not my thing. I decided to go the park that was just across the street from my building. I would always hear the little kids play there in the mornings when I would get ready for a class.
ONCE, I was at a park back home in Pennsylvania with my friends - probably during junior high - and we would always play around on the infant swings. They were fun and hard to get on and off of. A bunch of things in New York reminded me of Pennsylvania, but I'm in a better place now.
As I was walking down the sidewalk all I noticed was some cars driving around - probably going back home from a party. I had entered the park and sat down on a bench. I took in the area and exhaled quietly enjoying this little moment to myself.
It was on the beginning of September, which isn't even fall yet. There was no need for North Faces and UGGs, along with gloves and scarves. The weather this week has been simply fantastic and enjoyable. I could live in this weather forever.
Before I knew it, a figure sat down next to me. I recognized it to be a boy; he was tall and lanky and had on dark pants. He had a cigarette lit between his index and middle finger and would smoke it every ONCE in a while.
The boy finally turned over to me and put his hand out in front. "Hey, I'm Luke." Right then and there, the boy's - or should I say Luke's - thick Australian accent came out. It was pretty and made him seem cute.
"Liv." I shook his hand; he didn't seem that bad for his first impression. Some people would automatically think a human with a cigarette is absolutely horrible, but there's always a meaning behind it. You don't do something without a history for it.
"Surprisingly you shook my hand." Luke chuckled, taking a smoke from his almost finished cigarette.
"People should give other people chances and not infer from their looks." I simply stated, thinking that would be a good enough of a response.
"Deep, I guess." He coughed and dropped his cigarette, while crushing it with his foot, ending the small fire. "So what brought you out here?"
