First of all I'm really sorry for not updating for more than 3 months. I just had no motivation, you know? I never thought I would say this but thank you for 100 reads! I thought no one was reading this mess and there was no use of updating but that made my week. I don't know if there is anyone reading this and waiting for the next chapter but if there is, this chapter is for you!

Also, guess who the unlikely friend is. Let's see if you get it right. :)

Classes had started and with that a new set of worries. She never worried. It was unbecoming of her, but she couldn't help but notice that there were so many people who seemed like they were a lot more well-prepared. She was feeling pretty confident but Lily was scaring her. You didn't have to read all the textbooks twice in order to be prepared for class right?

She soon realized that there were subjects she liked, subjects that made her curse the creator, and subjects that were amazing but the teacher ruined them.

Defense against the dark arts sadly fell under the third.

Why?

Because she was paired up with the one person she wanted on the other side of the world.

Sirius bloody Black

The boy wasted no time in pointing out every mistake she made and even 3 non-existent ones and simply scoffed when she pointed out that he was holding his wand wrong.

Ugggh

After arguing about if he was holding his wand right, they had apparently told the professor to "shut up and mind his own business" and got detention for 3 days.

Together

double ugggh

After class was over she walked to the dorms with Lily who was listening to her rant while inserting an "I know right" or " horrible, I know" and the occasional " he said that!" when she looked at her expectantly. After getting there she immediately walked over to her secret chocolate stash and began waiting for it to melt so she could taste the flavour better.

Chocolate makes everything ok.

She remembered spending rainy nights watching the lightning form patterns in the dark sky alone while her parents were away again while eating a bar of chocolate.

It was her comfort food.

She pinched herself to get rid of the memory. You've got friends now and they'll never leave you. She told herself again. But telling herself something and believing it were completely different things.

                                                                               -*-*-*-*-*-*-

It rained that night. the irony of it all she thought. Everyone was talking and playing games with friends in the common room. She preferred to be alone. Being alone is better than feeling alone while being surrounded by people.

But then why did she long to be one of the people down there, on the other side of the glass wall she hid behind? She wanted to be seen. She wanted to have people in her life who loved her and she felt comfortable around. People she didn't have to walk on eggshells around. People she could trust.

In the end, it was all wishful thinking but you can't blame her for yearning.

Finally, after giving herself a pep talk she decided to go to the kitchens. She wanted to eat Fench food. She wanted a taste of home in this large unfamiliar place.

She tip-toed down. She took off her shoes and held them in her hand.

Ultra stealth mode

She managed to get all the way down to the first floor before remembering a very vital piece of information.

She had no idea where the hell the kitchen were.

While walking along and cursing her stupidity she crashed into a rather small figure.

Who was he?

She remembered seeing him walk around with Potter.

But what the hell was his name? Was he the Remus bloke Lily was friends with? She saw him slowly inch away from her. She had no idea she looked so intimidating.

" What's your name?" She asked, flattered.

"P-p-peter Pettigrew."

Oh. So he wasn't that Remus bloke. Whatever. The poor boy looked like he was about to wet himself. She was about to take pity on him and walk away but she was then struck with inspiration. What if he knew where the kitchens were?

"Hey, you." She said, probably a bit louder than expected by the squeak the boy emitted,

"Do you know where the kitchens are?"

The boy looked relieved. He offered to tell her where.

Jasmine was on the verge of agreeing and being on her way but then her sense of survival struck in. This boy and the other 3 he hangs around had already garnered quite a reputation as pranksters after charming Severus Snape's pants to look wet and drip on the ground. A childish prank but one quite effective. Everyone had started avoiding the boy out of fear of being next. What if this was a similar prank? She observed her surroundings. She saw a large pot with rather overly fragrant petals. They were probably watching her from behind while waiting for her to fall into whatever trap they planned.

"But my sense of direction is quite horrible. Would you mind coming with me?" She said, trying her best to sound helpless.

The boy looked confused but agreed after looking both ways for someone to rescue him.

They made their way down. Jasmine followed after kicking the flower pot twice. The boy looked at her like she belonged in St. Mungos.

"They stink don't they?" She asked him to look sane.

It probably didn't work with the way the boy tried to distance himself from her. While walking by she noticed that there was no one behind the flower pot.

Damn her overactive imagination! Now her foot hurt.

After reaching a weird-looking painting the boy looked at her. He looked excited.

"Tickle the pear!"

Now it was her turn to think he was bonkers.

She hesitantly did what he said and gasped as the pear giggled and the portrait opened up to reveal a kitchen that was absolutely magnificent. It was filled with house elves bustling around and going about their business. She was speechless.

Peter was grinning at her. She smiled back and the boy looked rather stunned for a moment.

                                                                          -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

Many people don't know this about Jasmine Shafiq but once she gets to know you, she is one of the most talkative people you will ever have the pleasure of meeting.

For the next 30 minutes, she had a very animated conversation with Peter Pettigrew who was quite nice as far as men go. She talked about France, food, French cuisine, chocolate, food..... you get the idea.

The two of them got along surprisingly well and talked about chocolate while walking toward the fat lady. After walking in she said," Thank you for showing me the kitchens. We should definitely talk more another time.Pleasure. Goodbye!" with a fleeting smile and a wiggle of the fingers, and walked back to her dorms leaving stunned silence in her wake.

The silence broke but 3 stunned boys were staring at a fourth in dumbfounded wonder remained.

How was it? It's like the moment I start writing my vocabulary evaporates and the English language becomes gibberish lol.  Feedback is always welcome! And guys, please vote. I get it, I'm lazy too but even I'm not too lazy to press a little star and make someone's day. It takes me an hour to write a chapter but it only takes a second to vote.
