"Look who's back," a voice drawls. I can hear my heart beating against my chest- the speed it's going at isn't natural.

"Klaus," I say. But it's the Original standing next to him that I'm more worried about. "Elijah," I nod. "I see you've set aside your differences," I say.

"Yes, well," Klaus says, spreading out his arms, "I chopped his head off, he nearly killed me for good," he shrugs, "I'd say we're pretty even," he says.

"Tell me, brother," Klaus says, walking over towards me, "Is it an act of bravery or an act of idiocy if one willingly walks towards their imminent doom?" Klaus asks. He wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me towards him.

"It would depend on the situation," Elijah replies in a barely audible voice- but it doesn't matter, for all three of us have vampire hearing, and are more than capable of hearing what he said.

The dagger I've stashed in the folds of my coat feels cold against my skin.

'Slash, and throw,' I think. 'Slash and throw.'

I scream out as Klaus punches his hand into my chest, gripping his fingers around my heart. "Let's do a review of what happened within the past forty eight hours, shall we?" he asks me. Tears begin to pool out of my eyes.

"Not only did you set Katherine Pierce, the woman I have been hunting down for five hundred years free, but you ripped out my heart, tried to stop the ritual I have been trying to hold for a millennium, and... Am I missing something, Elijah?" Klaus asks. Elijah doesn't reply, and Klaus shrugs. "I'm sure it'll come to me soon. The point is, love, you're in for a hell of a long century, because now that Katerina is gone, you're my new replacement Petrova to torture," he breathes into my ear.

"Let her go," Stefan's voice says. I shout out a curse in my mind. Stupid Stefan and his stupid refusal to let others get hurt! Why couldn't he have just waited downstairs like I had told him to?

"You just keep popping up, don't you?" Klaus says to Stefan. "Let her go, Klaus," Stefan repeats. Klaus stares at him, glances at me, then shrugs. I let out a loud gasp as he releases me. I claw at my chest as I fall to the floor.

"What do you want, Salvatore?" Klaus asks. "I need your help... For my brother," Stefan replies. Klaus smiles. "Well, whatever it is, it's gonna have to wait a tick. You see, I have an obligation to my brother that requires my immediate attention."

Elijah nods to Stefan, and Stefan looks back, with a look of hate on his face. No one can blame him, really. Elijah said he would kill Klaus, and instead, he's joined forces with him.

"You understand how important family is, or you wouldn't be here. My brother gave me his word that he would reunite me with my own," Elijah says to Stefan.

Klaus nods, and turns to Elijah. "And so I shall," he says, right before stabbing a silver dagger through Elijah's heart. Elijah's face, frozen in mid-scream, begins to turn grey as his body falls to the ground. Klaus slams Stefan against the left wall.

"Now," Klaus says, staring Stefan in the eye, "What am I gonna do with you?"

Stefan groans and buckles forward as Klaus drives a stake into Stefan's gut. Klaus grabs ahold of Stefan's shoulders and brings him back up.

"Do you feel that? It's scraping against your heart. The slightest little movement and you're dead," Klaus says.

I stand up, having fully recovered now. "Klaus, leave him alone, he's just trying to help his brother," I say to him.

"You have a cure for werewolf bites. Make me a deal. Just give me the cure to save Damon, and I'll do whatever you want," Stefan says, panting in and out. He yells out as Klaus rips the stake out of his body.

Klaus walks over to the counter and pours himself a glass of blood. "Trouble is," he begins, "I don't know if you'd be any good to me the way you are now. You are just shy of useless," Klaus states.

"I heard about this one vampire, crazy bloke, always on and off the wagon for decades. When he was off, he was magnificent. 1917, he went into Monterey and wiped out an entire migrant village... A true ripper. Sound familiar?" Klaus says. I roll my eyes and take the glass of blood out of Klaus's hands. To my surprise, he lets me, and I drain the whole thing in one gulp.

"I haven't been that way in a very long time," Stefan says.

"Well, that's the vampire I can make a deal with. That is the kind of talent that I can use when I leave this town," Klaus says. I look up. Did he just say, 'leave this town'?

"Helena, come here," Klaus suddenly says. I slowly make my way over to him. The second I'm within arm's reach, he grasps my wrist and digs his teeth- his werewolf teeth- into my flesh.

It hurts like hell- but at the same time, I'm intrigued. His eyes flash a golden color, and his fangs- he has double fangs. This is the hybrid that Klaus has ranted on about for centuries.

My skin starts to bubble where he bit me. It feels like someone is tearing the flesh off my bones. Stefan stares at me and Klaus in shock. I steady myself on the counter. I hear Klaus biting down on his own wrist. Already knowing what the cure for a werewolf bite is, I dig my fangs into his wrist and drink Klaus's blood.

My wound immediately starts to heal. Blood disappears as my skin closes up again.

"You want your cure? There it is," Klaus says to Stefan.

"Your blood is the cure," Stefan breathes. Klaus shrugs. "Gotta love Mother Nature," he says. He walks over to Stefan, and puts a hand on his shoulder.

"Now... Let's talk, you and I."
