"Helena," Elijah nods as I get out of the car.
"How?" I say in a hollow voice.
Elijah smiles at the ground. "A certain Salvatore brother was kind enough to remove the silver dagger from my heart," he answers.
Damon. I swear to god, I'm going to make him watch as I rip out his brother's heart. Then I'm going to shove that heart down his smug little face, right before I rip his heart out, too.
"It's been a while," I say, stepping forward.
We begin to circle each other, neither one of us making a move, neither one of us backing down.
"It has, indeed," Elijah replies in the soft yet dangerous voice he always uses right before he rips someone's heart out indifferently.
"Well, has anyone told you what's been going on?" I ask with a smile.
"Unfortunately not, but it's not hard to figure out... Since you're here, heading towards Niklaus as his ally, it can only mean that Elena is alive. She survived the curse, and the fact that Klaus is allowing her to live means that she is somehow important to the process of siring hybrids. Klaus, you, and possibly Elena went across the country looking for werewolves to sire, but something drew Klaus back into this town. It must have been something quite important, seeing as creating a species of hybrids has been Klaus's lifelong dream. The only thing that could have interrupted him in his quest would have been something that Klaus has wanted at an equal amount of desperation, for an equal amount of time- the death of Mikael. But the last time I checked," Elijah says, as he stops walking and looks me in the eyes, "Mikael was trapped in the Pickett Mausoleum. Was he not?"
I don't move. I simply stare at him with every ounce of loathing I can muster.
"Ah," Elijah nods, as if suddenly remembering something. "But how could I forget? You released my father from his prison several weeks ago."
"So," I say softly, "What now, Elijah? Are you going to tell him?" I say in a daring voice. "Are you going to tell Klaus that I committed an act of betrayal far worse and heinous than anything anyone has ever dared to do to him in his entire lifetime?" I shout.
"Are you really going to destroy the happiness your brother has finally gotten all for some petty argument with me that now makes no difference at all? Rebekah and Kol are fine, Elijah, they're probably waking up from their daggered sleep as we speak-" I'm cut off when Elijah grabs me by my shoulders and slams me against the hood of my car. Black veins erupt all across his face as he pins my two wrists by my hips.
"No one hurts my family and lives," he says in a deadly quiet voice.
Despite the position I'm in, I scoff amusedly.
"And here I thought I was family, too," I snap at him, flipping him onto the ground using my legs. He gives me enough time to stand up, right before he grabs my wrist and twists my arm behind my back.
As tears rush towards my eyes from the pain, I get a stupid sense of deja vu. My car, the Mystic Falls sign, a murderous Mikaelson brother- it's that night I set Katherine free all over again.
"I'm-" I yell in defiance, "Not-" I struggle under Elijah's tight grip- "Afraid of you!" I gasp, crying out when I hear my own bones break.
"Repeat that for me please, I couldn't quite hear you over all the screaming," Elijah says, picking me up by the throat and throwing me against the car window. I groan as I feel broken shards of glass digging into my back.
I heave in and out, trying to control my breathing.
"I'm not afraid of you," I repeat.
I grab a handful of the glass shards. Ignoring the pains that erupt across the palm of my hands, I fling the glass pieces with tremendous strength at Elijah's face. And then I let out a strangled shout of exasperation when he simply steps aside to avoid being hit.
"You may not be afraid of me, Helena, but you are afraid of what consequences my actions can bring to you. You are afraid of what will happen once Niklaus finds out. It drives you mad, knowing that I hold that much power over you," Elijah says, slowly walking towards me.
"Which is why I'm going to enjoy that for as long as it lasts. I'll let you spend weeks, months, perhaps even a few years, going insane from knowing the fact that at any given moment, I could destroy you and your entire life with one simple sentence. Perhaps you'll break under the pressure... But knowing you, you'll probably find a way out of the mental torture you're to be put under," Elijah laughs softly.
"And then, right when you least expect it," he says, ever so leisurely grabbing my throat and beginning to choke me, "I will let it be known to my brother that it was you who set Mikael free."
He lets me go, and I collapse onto the ground, on my knees, gasping for air. Once my breathing returns to normal, I throw my head back and begin to cackle madly.
"And this would be the part where the girl says to her unrecognizable long lost love, 'This isn't you! You're a good person!' Am I right?" I say, shaking my head, stumbling backwards as I continue to laugh.
"But anyone who has ever faced you knows that you're ten times more ruthless than Klaus, and a hundred times crazier when it comes to protecting your family," I spit out.
"I just guess some part of me actually hoped you would have considered me your family as well, after all the memories we made, after all the promises you said you would keep. Speaking of which," I say, running a hand through my hair, "It's very unlike you, Elijah. You claim you've never broken your word once in your life, but," I shrug, "What happened to that promise you made to me in 1710?" I say, sauntering forward in a drunken manner.
"What happened," I say quietly, "To always and forever!" I shout at the top of my lungs.
"Do not expect me to believe any of what you say!" Elijah yells, grabbing my fist right before it can make contact with his jaw and twisting it downwards.
"How dare you doubt the loyalty I had towards you? I killed for you, I lied to my own siblings for you! I let villages burn down to the ground for you! And in return, you risked Rebekah and Kol's life-"
"You act as if you and your stupid siblings are some masked saviors of some sort to whom I should be eternally grateful to!" I scream.
"It seems you've somehow managed to create a deranged memory for yourself, so let me take this moment to remind you, Elijah," I breathe. "You took me away from my mother, from my country, from the love of my life, then got my fiance's brother to rape me," I scream.
"Turned me into a vampire, turned my own daughter against me, and forced me to live for centuries with the knowledge that the sole purpose of my existence was to help give birth to my descendant whom you would kill the second she was born!" I yell.
"Well, you know what, Elijah?" I say in a shaky voice, clawing at my tangled dark hair, "If I could go back to 1926, if I could go back to that night?" I say.
"I would do it all over again."
I turn around and begin to walk away.
Not a second later, I scream and fall to my knees as Elijah's fangs rip into my throat.
