IMAGINE
_______
You scroll through social media, liking each one of your friend's post and some celebrities'. Distracting yourself on the couch, the TV played in the background from boredom.
It was the weekend, so there was no school to bother you nor your girlfriend to entertain you. Jennie was busy filming her small show with the girls and you were out of your mind.
Releasing sighs here and there, your mind was somewhere else -zoning out. Without anything actually peaking your interest, you continue to zone out while scrolling though your socials.
Only then, the door to your shared-home opens followed by a hush. You curiously sit up, straightening yourself as you hear your door close.
"Baby?" Jennie calls out attempting to not blow up her surprise.
"In the living room!" You inform, hearing her small scurries to you.
You tilt your head at her. Her back faced you and her hoodie definitely looked a bit too huge for her small self.
"Guess what." Jennie peeks behind her shoulder to see your skeptical look
"What?" You ask, oblivious of the small shufflings from underneath her hoodie.
"Guess." Jennie starts to giggle making you more baffled than you already were.
From your memory, Jennie wasn't suppose to be home at this time. But who were you to complain? Your girlfriend came home early and she seems to be happy to meet you.
"You have something for me?" You smile faintly, unsure of your answer.
You knew well Jennie was hiding something, either away from you or to you.
She nods esthetically happy about your gift. Jennie slowly turns around for you to see nothing but her hand under her hoodie and an outline of -an animal?
"Surprise!" She cooed before taking the small but huge animal out of hiding and placing it down on the ground.
You, however, quickly lifted your feet off the floor and curl yourself in a ball. Staring at it with vulnerable eyes, you glance back at Jennie -waiting for her to come to you.
You weren't always afraid of dogs but ever since you were young, you've got bitten by one. The dog bit so hard it left your flesh hanging and a scar on your arm. You remembered the memory clearly.
How the dog looked at you and how it ripped most of your skin away. You could just feel the agonizing pain just by thinking of it.
Jennie stares happily back at you and the puppy she bought. The puppy wasn't small nor big. It was a perfect size to fit into your arms.
"Look!" Jennie scoops up the small animal into her warmth as you eye the beastly demon cautiously and fearfully. "Isn't he cute?"
"I-I guess?" You start to create some distance between you three.
Jennie starts to walk towards you, oblivious of your trembling hands and shaky gaze. Jennie was at the peak of joy. Holding the adorable puppy in her arms made her soft and tender. Obviously, she loved the dog -maybe even more than you.
Slowly and unnoticeably, you back away -sinking yourself into the couch.
She was finally seated on the couch with the small dog on her lap. You tried your absolute best not to run away.
You found it quite hard to tell her you hated dogs. Ever since you found out she liked your fear on your second date together, you played along and said the same.
