The door swung open and Scott didn't even need to turn around to know who it was. He had known the extent of Rosies love for Stiles and knew that seeing him, begging her to stay, she would. Maybe he didn't know.
"I knew you wouldn't leave, but don't worry I'll leave you two love birds to catch up while I mope over my own breakup." Scott stood in the kitchen making himself some breakfast which he picked up and turned around, seeing Stiles soaking wet and alone.
"I couldn't stop her." Still in shock, Stiles looked at Scott, seeing Rosie's face hidden behind her brothers. "I couldn't make her stay."
As the realization hit from saying it out loud, emotion dripped from his eye, staining his youthful face. Seeing him like this, Scott did what anyone would have done and hugged his best friend, his broken hearted best friend.
"You did everything you could. It was her decision, and there's nothing you can do about it." He reassured Stiles, knowing there was nothing else he could have done to change her mind. "She'll come back, she always does."
"I don't think she will. Not this time." Stiles pulled himself away from Scott, multiple streaks down his face. "I pushed and I pushed and I... Shes not going to come back."
"Stiles, she loves you, I know it. That type of feeling doesn't just go away."
"But what about in France? Shes going away for the summer, shes gonna move on. Shes not gonna feel that when she comes back." Stiles denied any sign of hope, knowing that the hope he yearned for never came like he wanted it to.
"If she moves on shes just stupid." He gained an odd look from Stiles while talking about his sister this way. "It doesn't matter that shes my sister, we all have flaws. Hers is being so blind to the perfect thing which is in front of her and throwing it away even though its what she wants. I know you Stiles, you wouldn't hurt her."
"But I did." He pushed past Scott, suddenly getting angry at himself. "I decided to end things last night on a whim. I thought I was doing it to save her, keep her safe but I only left her alone. I left her."
"You did it for her and if shes too blind to see that then why beat yourself up." Scott placed his hand on his shoulder, gripping it to help calm Stiles down.
"I guess." He lounged on the sofa as the sun beamed through the window, the rain clouds were no longer restricting it from showing its beauty. Stiles looked at the sun which resided on the floor for a moment, knowing this hovering feeling of regret was something he would have to live with, something he couldn't escape. "Lets go practice some shots."
"Stiles we don't have to if you don't want to-"
"Well we have to get me on front line don't we?" Stiles stood up, wiped his face with both hands, eradicating any evidence of his heartbreaking regret from his face.

The boys exited the jeep and went on the lacrosse field they knew so well. Scott had took it upon himself to change the subject from Stiles and Rosie, telling Stiles all of what Allison had said to him last night.
"So you really think shes gonna come back to you?" Stiles asked, though he was wondering if Rosie would do the same and come back to him.
"Yeah, I know she is." He replied confidently, knowing who Stiles was really asking the question about. "So is Rosie."
"Uh well, the plan of making Rosie my girlfriend for longer than 2 weeks may have to stretch another year, but the plan is definitely still in motion." After hearing Scott build him up, Stiles was sort of confident that when she came back, Rosie and him could start over, try again.
