Moving Day!
"Mommmmmm, how much longerrrrrrr." I whined in the front seat. We were driving to a farm mom had just bought. She said I could get a horse when we move in. The farm was huge. There was a pool and there was 1 large arena, 1 medium sized paddock, a tack shed, and a shed with 2 stalls and a tacking/grooming station, and the house was huge! We had 4 bedrooms! I had a huge bedroom and next to my bedroom I had an office for doing my homework in. My mom had a huge bedroom also and the 4th bedroom was for my toddler sister named Amber. Me and my sister had really good names. Mine was Ruby & My sister's was Amber. My mom was happy we were moving. And I was happy that we were getting a horse for me and a pony for my sister, Amber. Just then I looked up from my book and saw our huge house in Cherry Town. Our new city was called Cherry Town cause they had the best cherries ever. Mom pulled in the driveway and parked the car. Mom got out and got Amber out of her carseat, I jumped out and ran to the horse stuff. I saw everything! The arena, the paddock, the tack shed, the stall shed, and the pool! Then I ran inside and saw the huge kitchen and living room then I saw my new room and office. I couldn't wait to get my own horse. I had a horse in mind, it was a Friesian/Arab, it was a gelding and he was $15,000 but he was worth it. When I get him I'm going to name him FreeRein. He will be the best ever! I thought. Mom said-
"Darling? We don't have much stuff so let's unpack. It shouldn't take more than 3 hours."
"Okay, mom. When can we get my new horse?" I asked excitedly,
"Tomorrow morning, dear."
3 Hours later and our stuff was unpacked. It was dinner time and mom was putting cereal with milk in bowls and then we started eating. Soon it was time for bed and I checked my Email. I noticed a new Email came in 2 hours ago, it was from my best friend, Kelly. Kelly was moving in right next door tomorrow morning. The letter said-
Dear Ruby,
I'm so happy we're moving next door! Mom said I can get a horse too. Mom said we're leaving for our new house at 4:00am, so early! The horse I'm getting is a mare, she's an appaloosa and I'm naming her Phoenix. You said you were getting a gelding and you were naming him FreeRein! We can ride together! I can't wait to see you! We can ride whenever since we're both homeschooled!!!! Ttyl!
I noticed that she was still online so I sent her an Email saying goodnight and that I was so excited. I fell asleep and the next time I woke up was at 6:00am. I awoke because I heard noise outside. I looked out my window and saw my bestie pulled into her new house! Mom and Amber were already awake. I got dressed in my Western clothes and ran outside and over to Kelly's new house. "You're here!" I screamed,
"Ruby!!!!!! Mom said that she's taking both of us to get our horses! We both have horse floats, right? We only need mine, tho." I hugged her tightly and got my stuff.
After Kelly's mom and her were settled in she said, "Mom got me a Pitbull! She got you a Great Dane! Here!!" Kelly handed me a Great Dane puppy, it was a girl and she was a brindle color and I wanted to name her Forest.
"Mom says that the puppy is cute," I said as soon as I put her inside. "Mom said that when we go out for our horses and my sisters' pony that she'll get puppy stuff while I'm out with you!" She got mine and Kelly's horse and a bay colored pony for Amber. We returned home and I put my horse, FreeRein, into the tacking up/grooming stall. I groomed him until he was shining. I then tacked him up in my western tack then led him outside where I mounted up and walked him to Kelly's. "Hey Kel!" Kelly had groomed Phoenix and had already tacked her up in her own western tack and we rode out onto a trail. "I can't believe it, Kel."
"Can't believe what?" She asked, curious.
"We got horses, puppies, and we're living next to each other!" I said happily,
"It is pretty great! Maybe we can have a sleepover at your house?" She asked,
"Sure!" I said excitedly.
A few hours later "Mom I'd like to take FreeRein out for a ride, is that alright?"
"Sure darling." Mom was occupied with Amber who wanted to come with me and I was taking care of Forest, my new puppy. "Sweety? Could you take Amber out to learn how to brush her pony? His name is Beach."
"Sure!" I said and took Amber's hand and leashed Forest and walked outside. I was outside and unleashed Forest so she could run around. I helped Amber catch Beach and FreeRein and then we tied them to the tacking/grooming station and I went into a little closet where the saddles and bridles and helmets and grooming supplies were, I grabbed the grooming supplies and carried them out to where the horses and Amber were.
"Here, Amber. We take the brush-" I held a long brush out to her and took one for myself, "And we brush the horse, or pony, like this," I demonstrated to her on FreeRein and she did the same with Beach. "Good! Now take the comb-" I passed her a comb and a tail brush and took the long brush back from her, dropped it in the box then grabbed a comb and tail brush and showed her how to brush out the knots in the mane and tail then collected the two combs and two tail brushes then put them in the box. Next I pulled out two hoof picking tools and handed one of the two to Amber and showed her how to use it. After that I showed her how to tack up and then we both (Including Forest) Went for a trail ride.
