A few days after waking up, Sarah is getting herself into the wheel chair to go see Scott, her new daily routine. As soon as she was able to shimmy herself out of her bed and into the chair without Kat, she stopped asking for permission to leave her room. Rolling herself around the corner she hears a man's voice, not Scott's, and the doctor wouldn't be talking to a coma patient. Cautiously, she rolls into the room, sitting at the doorway in case she needs to yell for help. She's not sure if there's anyone out there who would want to harm him, other than the deranged Mark. She finds a young man sitting in a chair on the other side of Scott's bed reading from a case file.
"Who are you?" studying him, the guy looked as if he was in his early twenties with thick, brown, wild, and wavy hair. He looked up at her, mid-sentence, with round brown eyes.
"Hello," he greeted a little too chipper, "I'm Agent Holden," Climbing to his feet he walked over, extending his hand.
Still watching him closely, she accepted the handshake and wheeled further into the room as he returned to his seat. "How do you know Scott?"
"I was training under him before the serial killer cases, when those opened, he kinda put training on hold, something about making sure an old friend was ok." Smirking, he looked at her knowingly.
"Ah." her face flushed at the thought of Scott changing his schedule just because of her, "So, why are you here now?" she asked eyeing the folder in his hand.
"Oh, this?" he questioned, holding up the file, "It's a case I'm on. I know we aren't supposed to talk about on-going cases, but I thought maybe something like this would stimulate the proper parts of the brain... and maybe aid in him waking up." he shrugged nervously.
Alright, so maybe this guy was ok. She couldn't be too sure anymore after Mark. Moving to her side of the bed, she nodded at Agent Holden, "It's not a half bad idea, mind if I glance at it?"
With a slight smile and soft eyes, he stated, "With all due respect, ma'am, I don't even know who you are. I can't go sharing my case information with civilians."
"Oh." she chuckled; he has no idea who she is. "Well, I'm Agent Bennet, Sarah Bennet."
Agent Holden's eyes widened with realization as his mouth formed to say, "Oh," Reaching across the bed, he handed Sarah the file, "I had no idea you were awake, I'm sorry. The images they share on the news don't really allow us to see what you actually looked like."
Curious, she glanced up and raised an eyebrow, "Oh?"
Shifting nervously in his chair, Agent Holden cleared his throat before he spoke, "Yeah. Uh, your guys' faces were... uh... pretty unrecognizable."
Looking off to the side, she nodded, "It's no worry, Agent Holden," she smiled as she opened the file.
"Please, call me James."
Looking at him over the folder, nodding once more with a smile, "Alright then, James, what is it that we have?"
Opening the folder revealed the regular police reports, notes, evidence reports and a few pictures; it also included logs and suspect information.
The reports consisted of multiple attacks of beatings, raping's, and even murders. Photographs of the women's beaten and battered faces, bloodied bodies, and clothing told her these acts of crime were violent, filled with hatred. The women were similar in appearance, dark blonde hair, blue eyes, tall, thin but not extremely fit, and each were wearing leggings and jogging sweaters of some kind.
"The cliché of kidnapping women found near running trails?" she asked as she pored over the information in front of her.
"Yes. Each of the women were out running during their attacks. Each wearing earbuds, never heard their attacker approaching them."
