“So how are things going with creepy Matt then?” Jack asked as we watched people move around the gym

“He’s not creepy,” I laughed, receiving a doubting look from Jack in reply, “ok so maybe he’s a bit creepy, but I think his heart’s in the right place!”

“He has a heart?!” Jack joked.

“I went out with him last night,” I admitted, “I actually had a really good night!”

“Alright, spare me the details!” Jack cringed

“No, no it was nothing like that! He took me down to the lake and we just talked.”

“Hmm, just be careful Tia, I don’t trust him.”

I understood why Jack didn’t trust him, when someone has a reputation it can be hard to put that aside to discover who they actually are. If there’s one thing I’ve learnt in my life it’s never to judge someone based on their reputation. A reputation isn’t who someone is; it’s who other people perceive them to be.

I was stood at one of the windows of the gym, looking out at the old couple playing tennis outside when I felt an arm wrap around my waist. My stomach twisted as I turned to face Matt.

“I thought you’d be missing me, so I came to put you out of your misery,” he winked. I still wasn’t comfortable with the wink.

“Don’t flatter yourself.” I advised, escaping his hold and walking away.

“So you’re saying you haven’t thought about me at all since last night?”

“Not one bit.” I lied. I turned to see him standing behind me, mock hurt painted on his face.

“How about you let me take you out again tonight then?” he asked. Butterflies erupted in my stomach.

“I’m babysitting tonight.”

“Surely your brother can do that?”

“He’s working tonight,” I stated, turning to face him. I put one hand on his chest and the other behind his neck, reaching up to whisper in his ear, “Friday’s good, pick me up at 8.”

With that I flashed him a smile and walked out. I felt dominant and I liked it, he wanted me but I planned to make him show me just how much.
