Ch.20 {Back in Class}

I opened my eyes, letting the white light flood my vision. I slowly sat up and tried to stretch my arms, but felt a small pain on my right shoulder. I blinked a few times before remembering the encounter with Stain. I wasn't in a lot of pain like before, but all of my limbs were sore. As I adjusted to the light, I looked around the room to see Iida standing beside a window, Todoroki sitting on the edge of his bed and Midoriya still sleeping on his bed across from me. Midoriya had his right arm bandaged, along with his left leg. Iida had his shoulders bandaged, and Todoroki had his left leg and left arm bandaged. While I had both arms bandaged, as well as a small bandage on my cheek.

"Are you doing okay Y/N?" I turned to Todoroki, who had a concerned look on his face. "Yeah I'm doing great, just a little tired and a small headache." "Good, I'm glad. You really managed to save me back there, thanks." I waved it off and gave him a smile, "It's no problem!" Then, Midoriya got up as well and I spoke, "You know, thinking back to what we did there, it's quite impressive!" The three nodded along, Midoriya added, "After everything that happened back there, it kind of feels like a miracle that we're even alive. With my leg messed up, I was an easy target. He probably could've killed me if he really wanted to." "Yeah, seems to me he let us three all live on purpose. I'm impressed by you though, Iida." Todoroki turned to face Iida, "He was actually trying to murder you but you stood tall." "That's not true, I was...-" 

Iida was cut off by another voice that came through the doorway. "Oh! So the injured younglings are awake." The older hero walked in and Midoriya lit up, "Gran Torino!" He exclaimed, followed by Iida, "And Manual too!" I looked over both of the heroes and spotted a winged hero and sighed, adding on, "And Hawks as well." "Idiot! I could yell at you for hours right now!" Gran Torino sped across the room and whacked Midoriya on the head. "Yeah, I'm... sorry." Midoriya apologized while Hawks just flashed me a playful smile.

"But before I do, you have a visitor." Gran Torino informed us and a tall male stepped in. "This is Hosu's chief of police, Kenji Tsuragamae." Gran Torino introduced, even though I already knew who he was by his appearance. Todoroki, Iida and I immediately stood up respectfully while Midoriya struggled to stand up. "No please, stay seated. Woof. So, you're the U.A students who brought down the Hero Killer huh?" Woof? I looked at the chief in amusement, as Todoroki answered, "Yes, we are." The chief cleared his throat and continued, "Stain has some serious injuries, several burns and several broken bones." It was at that moment, I realized what we did was illegal, without our licenses, we weren't allowed to use our quirks to fight. For some reason, I wasn't able to pay attention to what the chief was saying until he told us what was going to happen to us. 

"What I've said is the official stand of the police apartment, but, any punishment is only necessary if this goes public. If we let the story out, you'll all be worshiped by the public, but won't be able to avoid punishment. On the other hand, we could say Endeavour saved the day. Since burns will secure the story completely and we could pretend you weren't involved. Woof. Thankfully, there were very few witnesses. It would mean no one would know about you though, you'd receive no claim at all." All of us were silent, "The choice is yours." The chief finished and we looked at each other when Manual sighed. "Either way we'll have to take responsibility for being negligent as supervisors." Lowering his head down a little, Iida immediately came up and did a ninety degree bow. "I'm sorry, I should've listened." Manual lightly hit his head, "Yeah you caused us a lot of trouble! Remember that and don't do it again." After him, Todoroki, Midoriya and I all bowed our heads to the chief as well, apologizing. And the chief spoke again, "I know it's not fair, you won't enjoy all the fame and praise you probably would've received otherwise. But at least..." He bowed down to us, "Allow me, as the chief of police, to thank you." Todoroki glanced away, and muttered underneath his breath. "You know, you could've started with that." I laughed and poked Todoroki, "Todoroki!"
