"Oh, so those are your names?" Nene asked.

"Yes. Strange isn't it?" answered Girlfriend. Boyfriend scratched the back of his neck.

"Can you put that knife away, now?" He asked politely.

Nene remembered she still had her knife out. She laughed innocently and took the knife out of sight. If Boyfriend and Girlfriend were to Pico what their names were, Nene would have used it that day. If you haven't found out by now, Nene had been madly in love with Pico since they were in the ninth grade. Emphasis on the madly. Because of the disaster that was Pico's high school experience the previous year, Nene already had experience killing people. Therefore, nothing could stop her from doing anything she could for Pico's affection. Pico gently bonked Nene on the back of the head.

"My friends aren't psychos, I swear." He said reassuringly. Boyfriend slowly nodded.

"Anyway... It's couple's karaoke night, and me and Girlfriend were hoping you would come, but now, it looks like we don't need to invite an extra person!" He said.

Pico turned towards Darnell, but before he could ask, Darnell already rejected him.

"Can't." He said. Pico began to protest.

"Where have you got to be?" He asked. Darnell smiled.

"Nowhere. Singing just isn't my thing. But hey, you, me and Nene'll totally hang tomorrow." He said. Pico frowned and sucker punched Darnell on the arm.

"You're a lost cause." He groaned.

After school, when everyone had finished their homework, Boyfriend, Girlfriend, Pico, and Nene, who decided not to leave Pico hanging, met at Girlfriend's house. Girlfriend walked out in her red dress and high heels.

"My dad's letting me borrow his car, so no drinking." She said. When they reached the karaoke spot, it was very lively. Nene, who had never been there before was mesmerized by all the neon lights, music, and cheerfulness. The foursome sat at a table, and after a few minutes, Boyfriend got up and spoke to the DJ.

"Alright!" The DJ said through his mic. "Up next, we have Boyfriend... Uh... Are you sure that's your name?" He asked while looking uncertainly at the list Boyfriend signed. Boyfriend nodded. "Er... Sorry... Boyfriend versus Pico!" The DJ said, finishing his announcement. Nene watched as Pico and Boyfriend got into position, and noticed Girlfriend standing up.

"Where are you going?" She asked. Girlfriend looked back at Nene.

"You didn't know? If you came with your partner, they can either sit on the speaker or in your lap while you perform! Boys mostly choose the speaker option when their Girlfriend is singing..." She explained.

"Oh." Nene said. She blushed profusely at the thought of Pico holding her. Girlfriend hopped in her Boyfriend's arms, and he caught her. (This is how they look in week 7.) Boyfriend and Pico began the rap battle. Nene watched, intrigued. She had no idea Pico could rap so well. In the third round, Girlfriend noticed Pico had decided to go a lot harder on Boyfriend because he had won the first two rounds. Because of this, she decided it would be best to sit on the speaker. Nene paid attention to Girlfriend. She began to wonder how it would feel to support Pico and encourage him while he fought someone. When Boyfriend was done battling Pico, they decided to go another round with Pico battling Boyfriend.

Pico stood where Boyfriend did, and Boyfriend took Pico's place. Nene slowly got out of her chair and walked to the stage. She approached Pico. Pico noticed she wanted to ask him a question.

"What is it?" He asked. Nene looked at her feet to avoid her red face being visible.

"Would it be alright if I sat on the speaker and watched?" She asked quietly.

"Sure!" Pico said. Girlfriend hopped in Boyfriend's arms again, and Nene sat with her legs crossed on the speaker. She actually enjoyed the closer view. Pico wanted revenge, and he was getting it. After Pico had won three rounds, Boyfriend decided to go hard on HIM. The song they were battling to was just as complex as it was sick. Pico, determined to leave winning was destroying Boyfriend. Before she knew it, the hardest bass drop in the history of battles had dropped, and it caused Nene to lose her balance and tumble off the speaker. She fell, but someone caught her. It was Pico. The song stopped for some seconds, because Pico was flustered. Still determined to win, Pico continued the battle with Nene in his arms.

Pico got used to it pretty quickly, unlike Nene. This wasn't what Nene was expecting at all... But she didn't dislike the fact that they looked like a real couple onstage. When the song had finished, Pico won. Boyfriend was caught off guard by his broken win streak, but he was still a good sport.

"That was a lot of fun! Thanks for coming with us!" Girlfriend said.

"Hey, I'd jump at any chance to annihilate Boyfriend." Pico replied. They all laughed. Girlfriend noticed how close Nene was standing next to Pico and an idea formed in her head.

"Well, it's getting late. Me and Boyfriend better head home." She snatched Boyfriend's hand and hopped in the car they took. Before anyone could make sense of what was happening, Girlfriend sped off.

"Hey, you forgot... Us." Nene said. Pico slapped his forehead.

"I guess I'll have to walk you home. You still live close to me, right?" He asked.

"Uh, yeah." Nene answered.

They walked in silence for a while until Pico broke it.

"Nene?"

"Yeah?"

"Thanks for the luck."

Nene's whole face turned red and she looked at the concrete as they walked off into the night.

"Don't mention it."
