As I inhale, I feel the pain in the air. My lungs fill with the sins of mankind. My chest grows heavy with the weight of history. I look up to the sky and see nothing but the remnants of the cancer which is humans.  My heart breaks from the sight. Once a world of majestic beauty now nothing but a wasteland. My new home seemed to not accept itself. I immediately felt the need to know how and to know why.

Rising into the sky after my birth I see the little beauty that still remains. The animals as they peacefully go about life. I watch the innocent interaction of the younglings lavishing in nature and all her beauty.

The air is suddenly filled with the wailing of a hurt baby. Looking down I see a material, pointed at one end and feathered at the other, being hurled towards the doe trying to protect her fawn. With a piercing moan she falls to the ground.

Out of the bush, two men walk out holding a wooden contraption that utilized a single, slender string. The look in their eyes as they looked upon the hurt mother and babe was not one I'd come to appreciate.

I felt heat rise within me as I sunk down to their level. They were shocked at first but quickly their facial expressions turned with greed. Their new prize ringing in their heads, and in their filthy hearts. I could feel it cry out for me. It felt heavy, blocked even. I knew what must be done. For the good of all nature.

Before their smiles fell from their faces I contorted every muscle in their bodies, separating them from the bone. They screamed in pain, but I still heard the sound of the fawn as it fell. I braided their vocal cords with surrounding nerves and their silence satisfied me. I shattered every bone in their bodies before they went limp. I dropped them, retracting my magic before going over to the mother and her child.

Kneeling beside them I kissed my hands and pet them with it. Each kiss filled with the love I felt from mother, transferred to my hands and given to the pair. They stood up, wounds healed, bowed in gratitude and galloped off back into the thick vegetation.

As I return to the sky, I find myself smiling at the irony of my mind now being filled with the screams of greedy men. They would surely learn their lesson, them or whosoever stumbles across what's left of them.
