Lisa assisted Irene outside Joy's house and the two waited for a taxi. Suddenly Irene cupped Lisa's face.
"Don't go anywhere. Just wait for me at your dorm. I just needed to settle some things but I promise to see you tonight. Make sure to prepare my favorite snacks. Let's have your favorite hot choco too."
Her face was getting closer to Lisa's. She also didn't know why she's pulling Lisa closer. She closed her eyes knowing soon her lips would end up to the latter's lips.
Being unaware a taxi pulled over and was honking at them. "Yah, are you girls gonna make out or ride?" The annoyed driver asked them.
"Baechu, get in. Jinyoung's waiting for you." Lisa reminded.
Irene wanted to scream at the driver because of her frustrations. She wanted to kiss Lisa to make sure of whatever she's feeling for her. It should have been her chance.
"Bye, Lili. I'll see you later."
"Bye, take care, Baechu. I am looking forward to it." She watched as the taxi drove away. She clutched on her chest, she never felt any pain like that before. She wondered if she's hurting by letting go of Irene or because of something else.
She then felt she needs to gasp for some air. It was suffocating and she could barely breathe."I love you, Baechu. I do. I am sorry for being a coward."
Another taxi stopped and she took her chance to ride. She instructed the driver to drop her off at her dorm's address.
Romantic Venue by the Bay.
"Hi!" Jinyoung greeted the moment Irene got outside the taxi.
"Hi, have you been waiting for me?"
"No, I just got here." He lied. He was waiting for almost two hours. He made sure everything was set. He wanted to pull a very memorable romantic date with Irene. It is still 45 minutes early before the fireworks display. He then gave a bouquet of roses to Irene. Well, Irene preferred purple Lilies. The one that Lisa always gives her.
"Thanks, they are lovely." She lied so she won't hurt Jinyoung's feelings.
"Let's sit over there. I prepared something for us before the fireworks display."
Irene followed Jinyoung hesitantly. She was anxious to get over this so-called date and be with Lisa. She let Jinyoung pull a seat for her and waited for him to settle before she spoke."This is so nice and romantic, Jinyoung."
"Anything for you, Irene." Jinyoung reached for her hand.
"Jinyoung, I have something to tell you." She retracted her hand from him.
"Sure, sure. Well, this is just for formality's sake. I am courting you for almost more than 2 years yet you still haven't given your answer. You are always worth the wait, Irene." He reminded.
"Jinyoung, please listen to me carefully." Irene snapped. "I shouldn't be here with you. I just don't like the idea of you waiting for me. You deserve to be treated well. I don't like you being stood up by me."
He was shocked hearing all this and feeling worried that it was Irene's way of rejecting him and it's happening the same night he was supposed to make it official between them. He pulled himself together not to look awful in front of the woman he respects so much and loves with all of his heart. He gave her the warmest smile. "I understood and I am grateful enough that you still took the time to go here just to tell me this."
"I am really sorry, Jinyoung. But it was foolish of me not to realize this sooner. I thought I was just being confused all this time. That somehow there's a part of me that learned to accept and love you. But the feelings I have trying to conceal for too long is just too strong to knock me off my senses like this."
