Layla's POV :
^I get to my cousin Dominic's house and tell him to get clothes. This kid is something else ... he reminded me of Darren when he was younger. I want to cry just thinking about it ...^
^For many year's people had been asking me if I was ok after what happened in 4th grade ... like no I'm not ok. People don't understand how easy it is to put a fake smile on you're face and say you're ok. The only people who knew I wasn't really ok besides my parents was Kayla and Darren... they're real^
^I still haven't confronted Mom and "Dad" for lying to me about my "dad" not really being my dad ..^
Dominic comes back into the car with a backpack
Dominic : Ok ready
Layla : Ok bet
Layla drives to her house and they both get out the car
Dominic : How does it feel to have a nice house like this ?
Layla : Lonely
Dominic : Oh... I'm sorry
Layla just walked up to the door and had a thinking face on
Dominic : What's wrong ? You can talk to me
Layla : You wouldn't understand
Dominic : If it comes with a story then ... I'm down to listen. I'm here for you
Layla : It's about my first crush, he died in the 4th grade. It was traumatizing
Dominic : You were there weren't you ...
Layla : Yeah ...
Dominic : Sometimes telling someone will help. Only if you want
Layla : You're right
Layla and Dominic both sit down and she then tells Dominic the story
~Flashback~ :
Today is May 24 (Layla's 10th bday).. also 9 months after Layla was kidnapped.
Layla was super excited because today she was supposed to go to the movies with Jose, Darren, Kayla and Erica.
It was 3:54 PM. Everyone was already at Layla's house even the kids parents, they were gonna sing happy birthday really quick.
They all sang happy birthday and then the kids went outside to play.
Erica, Kayla, Layla, Darren and Jose were on the grass playing duck duck goose when out of no where a white van drives by
In Layla's pov everything went in slow motion and then immediately memories rushed back to her from August 24
As the things were in slow motion and the van was still moving a man with a mask pulls out a gun and shoot to where the kids were
Layla had then saw one of the guys get out the van and kidnap Jose. While the kids try to hit him another man comes out and points a gun at them basically telling them to stop
The parents come rushing out
J/m : Jose ! LEAVE MY BABY ALONE YOU BASTARD !
And then the man points his gun at J/m and ... shoots
Man1 : You weren't supposed to shoot !
Man2 : Too late now let's go !
The guys then run into the van with Jose and leave
Layla was in shock and then got on her knees and started crying so hard and began to scream Jose's name
Layla : NO JOSE ! WHY HIM ?! WHY TODAY ?! WHY EVER ?! *😭*
Darren and the other kids start trying to comfort each other including Layla and just start crying
Meanwhile the adults try and stop J/m's body from draining of blood and call the ambulance
Minutes later to the ambulance show up and take J/m into the van. All anyone heard J/m say was "Where is Jose ?! Where is my baby ?!"
That day traumatized Layla the most ...
~End of Flashback~
Dominic : I- I'm so sorry
Layla : It's fine
She sniffles
Dominic : You've been through so much .. an- and on your birthday. Wow
He says with a tear coming down his face
Layla : Yeah that's what made it worse
Dominic : How many times ?
Layla : How many times what ?
Dominic : How many times did he get shot
Layla : Twice in the gut
Dominic just frowns
Layla : Hey uhm it's fine let's just watch a movie
Dominic : Oh ok, Friday after next ?
Layla : Yeah sure. You can go upstairs and change
Dominic : Ok brb
Layla grabs the movie and puts it in the DVD player then waits for Dominic
Dominic : Ok ready
Layla : Ok
Layla then grabs the remote and starts the movie
After 15 minutes Dominic and Layla fall asleep
