Chapter 13

We walked out to the parking lot and I leaned against the backseat door while Dean opened the trunk and shoved weapons into a duffel bag "We cannot let that Haley girl go out there." "Oh yeah? What are we gonna tell her? That she can't go into the woods because of a big scary monster?" I chuckled at his comment and walked over to him "she's going to go whether you want her to or not, it's her brother" Sam looked at me and frowned "yeah." Dean nodded "I agree with her, She's not gonna just sit this out. Now we go with her, we protect her, and we keep our eyes peeled for our fuzzy predator friend"

"You two figured out what it was?" I tilted my head and they both shook theirs "nope, but we will, out there" Dean picked up the duffel bag and Sam looked at him "finding dad's not enough?" He slammed the weapons box and the trunk and my eyes widened "Now we gotta babysit?" Dean found my eyes and tilted his head towards me "haven't we been doing that since we got here?" I was going to say something, but Sam beat me to the punch "Sylvia isn't a problem, she knows what's out there" Dean watched his little brother for a second "What?" Sam looked at him and raised his eyebrows "nothing" he threw his bag at Sam and walked off. 

I watched him walk off and sighed "okay, you two have been like that this whole time" I turned back to Sam "is something going on with you?" He held the bag in his hand and shook his head before walking off in the direction Dean went. I rubbed my forehead before going with them into the motel. The night was long and the next day was slightly quiet, Dean let me come along to the forest even though he had heavy doubts. He couldn't order me around all the time and he knew that. We head towards the forest to find a man talking to Haley. 

I get out and fix my pants as Sam walks over to the trunk to grab the duffel bag filled with their weapons. Dean walks over to the two talking "you guys got room for three more?" Haley was confused, "Wait, you want to come with us?" I walked over to them and nodded as the Man looked us up and down "who are these guys?" Haley made a face "Apparently this is all the park service could muster up for the search and rescue" I rolled my eyes at her tone as Sam walked past us "you're Rangers?" The man seemed to not believe his own question as Dean nodded "that's right" 

Haley looked at our appearances and scoffed "and you're hiking out in biker boots and jeans" I looked down at my pants and frowned as Dean spoke "well sweetheart, I don't do shorts" I rolled my eyes at the nickname he gave her and sighed "can we just get going?" The man stared at me "you guys allow a young girl to work with you?" I almost hit him, but Dean stepped in front of me "you got a problem with that?" "I'm twenty three" we spoke at the same time "you think this is funny? It's dangerous back country out there, her brother might be hurt."

Dean nodded "believe me, I know how dangerous it can be. We just wanna help them find their brother, that's all." He walks off towards Sam and I look the man up and down before following Dean. We start the hike through the forest and the man I want to beat the shit out of is leading with Sam in the back and me in front of Haley as I stood behind Dean who walked behind the man who's name I found out was Roy. "So Roy, you said you did a little hunting" leave it to Dean for small talk, I hit a mosquito that started sucking on my arm "yeah, more than a little" "those poor animals" I mumbled under my breath, but haley heard me and chuckled softly. 

"What kind of critters do you hunt?" "Mostly buck, sometimes deer" I scratched at my forehead as I slightly surpassed Dean. "Tell me Roy, uh Bambi or Yogi ever hunt you back" Roy grabbed my arm tightly and held me in place as Sam looked up at the both of us causing Dean to grip onto Roy's wrist "whatcha doing, Roy?" I winced at how hard his hand was before he let me go and Dean placed his hands on my waist to keep me steady. Roy bent down and picked up a stick before poking at the ground, a bear trap easily broke the stick and I looked at it with surprised eyes considering it could've been my foot. 

Haley was annoyed as Roy said "you should watch where you're stepping. Ranger" his eyes remained on mine and I gulped slightly as Roy continued walking and Dean let me go to follow him. I ended up in the back with Sam who gently rubbed my shoulders "it's a bear trap" Dean spoke up as we continued to hike. Haley sped up slightly and grabbed Dean's arm before pulling him off to the side. Sam and I follow, but Dean has this look on his face and Sam instantly follows after Ben, Haley's little brother. Sam has his hand on my wrist and drags me along. 

"Sam, something could be out here and we're leaving your brother alone with that really determined woman" he looked down at me and nodded "he can handle himself" I bit the inside of my cheek and watched them from a distance. As the day goes on we continue walking with Roy still in the lead, I could feel my feet starting to hurt and the trees around me start to get blurry. "This is it, Blackwater Ridge." I almost thanked him, but stopped myself because I didn't want to give him the satisfaction. Sam walks up to Roy "what coordinates are we at?" 

Roy pulls out a GPS and I watch before going to lean against a tree. "Thirty-five and minus One-eleven" Dean walks up to Sam and I follow as they stay quiet for a second "you hear that?" I squinted before understanding "oh my god, absolutely nothing..no crickets or anything" Sam nodded as Roy spoke up "I'm gonna go take a look around" Sam looked over to him "you shouldn't go off by yourself" he chuckled "that's sweet, don't worry about me" he waved his gun before pushing between us to retake the lead, as his back was turned I waved my middle finger causing Sam to gently lower my hand. Dean turns back to let the other two catch up "all right, everybody stays together. Let's go"
