Chapter 11

My eyes were closed up until we pulled up to Sam's apartment, I cracked my neck and yawned "are we here?" I heard Sam's door open and I got out as well "call me if you find him?" I leaned against the car as he stood up from the window. I waited for him to look at me and once he did I hugged him tightly. He seemed a bit taken back, but hugged me anyway "thank you" I mumbled into his chest before letting go. I bit my lip and slipped into the passenger's seat before watching him walk to Dean's window "maybe I can meet up with you later, huh?"

"Yeah, all right" Sam patted the car door twice before turning away "Sam?" He turned around at the mention of his name "you know, we made a hell of a team back there" I leaned over Dean "he meant to say he loves you Sam" I was slightly shoved back against my seat. Sam chuckled "yeah" he turned around and started into his apartment and Dean started to drive off. I stretched and put my seatbelt on "are you sure you want to leave him?"

"He's a big guy, he should be fine" he shrugged and went to reach for the radio "Dean..wait" he looked at me and noticed the cold look in my eyes "I have a bad feeling" he seemed to understand without asking questions and turned around before speeding back to Sam's apartment "stay here" he rushed out of the car and bolted into the apartment. My eyes widened at the sight of the flames coming from the apartment, my hands shaking as I watched the door.

Dean and Sam rushed out looking distraught and I looked behind him for another person, but she didn't come out "dean?" He shook his head and I frowned, after a while I had moved to the backseat and Sam and Dean were still outside of the car as fire trucks pulled up and did what they could to control the flames, I played with my sleeves as the trunk slammed shut and the two got into the car. I didn't say anything and let my head fall against the window as he drove off.

We had stayed around Stanford for a week trying to find answers about what killed Jess, safe to say I know enough about these boys and I got new clothes. Sam had fallen asleep as we drove to Blackwater ridge "do you think he's going to want to talk about it when he wakes up?" Dean glanced at me through the rearview mirror and sighed softly "I'm not sure.." As soon as he finished his sentence Sam jerked awake in the passenger's seat and I moved over to the middle seat to ask him if he was okay, he looked back at me before looking away "yeah, I'm fine" his tone told me otherwise "another nightmare?" Dean looked over and I sat back. Sam cleared his throat "you wanna drive for a while?"

Both Sam and I looked at him in surprise with Sam laughing "Dean, your whole life you never once asked me that" "Just thought you might want to. Never mind." I chuckled and ate the cinnamon bun I got from the store when we made a small pit stop "Look, man, you're worried about me." I set my hand on his shoulder and frowned "we both are" he laid his hand on my own and smiled softly "I get it, and thank you, but I'm perfectly okay."

Dean didn't believe him and frankly neither did I "mhmm" Dean hummed before Sam grabbed the map from my lap, I protested but he didn't listen "all right, where are we?" I crossed my arms "We are just outside of Grand Junction." "I could've told him that" Dean stuck his tongue out and I rolled my eyes, currently Dean and I have been arguing ever since we left Jericho. "You know what?" Dean looked over after hearing his brother "Maybe we shouldn't have left Stanford so soon"

"Sam, we dug around there for a week. We came up with nothing. If you wanna find the thing that killed Jessica-" Sam interrupted "we gotta find dad first" "Dad disappearing and this thing showing up again after twenty years, it's no coincidence." I sat back and kept my words to myself, I knew their dad was a sensitive subject and I never asked questions "Dad will have answers. He'll know what to do." In return we never talked about my dad. "It's weird, man." I sat up, "These coordinates he left us, this Blackwater Ridge."

"What about it?" Dean turned down the music slightly "There's nothing there. It's just woods." I reached forward and turned it back up while Dean glared at me. "Why is he sending us to the middle of nowhere?" Dean shrugged and shoved me back slightly "don't touch my stereo" I groaned "don't turn down the music, and Sam maybe there's something in those woods..maybe your dad is there" I played with my cinnamon bun wrapper "we'll find out when we get there" We drove past a sign that read 'Welcome to LOST CREEK COLORADO National Forest'
