Chapter 9
We drove down the road "Dean, Sam" Dean's attention stayed on the road, but he seemed to perk up for me. Sam turned around in his seat, a journal loosely open on his lap "I'd like to hunt with you both" Sam's eyebrows furrowed and Dean began to shake his head no "I know, you don't know me well, but the way we worked together back there. It made me feel alive" Sam glanced at Dean "she could help you find dad".
Dean looked at him once he heard 'you' in the sentence. Sam held the ruler tightly in his hand "we would just need to go to my house and get some of my clothes" Dean's car stopped on the side of the road and he turned around "have you ever hunted before?" "Actually, no" he nodded and rubbed his chin "look I don't know why you're running from your dad" I bit my lip and Sam looked away for a moment, "but I don't want to be responsible for you getting hurt or killed on a job. "
I looked at Dean with wide eyes "no, you won't have to be responsible for me. I'm a big girl, I can take care of myself" I crossed my arms sitting up "look I know what I'm getting into, I know the risks. My dad didn't keep me out of the dark, he may have wanted a normal life for me and my brother, but we knew what was lurking in the dark" he looked at Sam and sighed "I know how to kill monsters, I'll be fine Dean, I just..don't want to be on my own" I was hoping to get my point across "alright we'll go to your house and then we'll go to-. "
He looked at Sam "oh, dad's in Blackwater Ridge, Colorado" "sounds charming, how far?" I smiled and leaned back as Dean started driving again "about six hundred" "hey, if we shag ass and get her clothes fast enough we could make it there by morning" I felt the atmosphere drop immensely and I looked at the two "Dean, I um" Dean glanced at the road and then back to his brother "you're not going" "the interviews in like, ten hours. I gotta be there" I bit my lip and furrowed my eyebrows "interview?" He glanced back at me before looking at his older brother who nodded in disappointment "yeah, yeah whatever"
"I'll take you home after we stop by her house" Sam leaned back and I squinted "an interview?" I repeated my question "it's a law school interview" Sam's head pressed harder against the seat to talk to me "law school?" He nodded and I looked at Dean, to see him with a smirk of disgust on his face, not taking his eyes off of the road "you really want to go to law school?" Dean's eyes widened slightly once he heard me "yeah I do, I want a normal life" I scoffed "normal?"
"Yeah normal, what's wrong with that?" "Sam, you don't get normal, not with everything you know. You're going to spend your whole life paranoid and looking over your shoulder" he shook his head and went to speak, but I interrupted him again "and what about your kids? Are you going to keep them in the dark? Or tell them, because they're going to want to kill what lurks in the dark and then they'll end up dead" I powered my past into that sentence, thinking about my older brother. He bit his bottom lip "oh nevermind I get it, your girlfriend" I crossed my arms "Dean just make a left here"
He smirked at what I'm assuming was my argument with Sam and made the turn "it's just up that hill". He made his way up the hill stopping at a gate, they both turned to me "a gate?" I nodded and climbed out of the car punching in a code on the lock pad connected to the brick mailbox holding a side of the gate up, the gate opened up and I got back in the car, a very nonchalant look on my face "what are you? A princess?" Dean's eyes squinted as he drove past the opened gate. I glared at him and shook my head no "dad got by really well" I shrugged
He pulled into the driveway of a really big and nice house "what the hell did your dad do?" Dean and Sam both leaned forward with their eyes squinted, I shook my head and got out of the car. The boys followed suit, my dad's car seemed to be gone so I gave them the thumbs up "I'm just going to run in here grab a bag full of clothes and we can drop Sam off at home" they followed me inside, gaping at whatever they laid their eyes on. An older lady walked out of my dad's office as I was about to head up the stairs, Dean raised his eyebrows and whistled softly causing me to stop.
"You must be Sylvia" her voice sounded like satin, it was low and smooth. I shivered slightly and looked at her "and who are you?" She smirked "I'm Roseanne it's a pleasure to meet you" I squinted and stepped down from the stairs "why are you here?" Dean and Sam backed up slightly "I'm your father's girlfriend" my father came out of the office and noticed me, his eyes seemed tired. "Sylvia, where did you go, I've had people out looking for you" he seemed upset and slightly intoxicated "dad, where's your car?" He didn't speak for a moment, his thinking face on as he looked over to the Winchesters "who are they?"
Dean stepped forward "I'm Dean, and this is my brother Sam" "they're hunters dad, and I'm leaving with them" Dean glanced at me, not liking that I interrupted him. My father's face turned dark and he started towards me "you aren't leaving this house Sylvia" I rolled my eyes "there it is, his true colors everyone" I moved my hands around to emphasize him being a dick. Roseanne seemed intrigued by my behavior and stepped forward to rub my father's back, her red locks fell into her face as she whispered in his ear. He seemed to change his mind after that, walking into his office and letting me leave. I glanced at the boys and then back to his office door, a questioning look on my face before I headed upstairs.
