"It's gonna be okay," Jin reassured, still holding the younger. Namjoon had been crying for a long time. He almost never got to show his real emotions. The teal-haired boy would always be the one to thank for letting him be himself. "What if," Jin started. Namjoon looked up. "We got out of here. I mean, we just leave. We could go far enough that nobody in your little mafia business could find us," he suggested.
Namjoon chuckled. His eyes were still full of tears. "It's not a mafia business," he smiled a little. "But what about you? Jackson will probably always be here, and there won't be anyone to stop him,"
"I never said I wouldn't be going too," Jin said, making Namjoon's eyes go wide. "I know that I'm in danger here. It may make my mom and friends upset, but I can't just tell you to run away and not go with you,"
Namjoon nodded, sitting down on Jin's bed. "Where would we even go? Busan is too far away and transportation would be too expensive. I have family in Gwanju, and there's a chance they'll tell my father where I am if they ever found me. Do you know anyone in Daegu?" he asked. Jin shook his head.
"When would we go?" Jin asked, genuinely curious. He wanted to say goodbye to the people he recently got to know before he left again.
Namjoon got his laptop out of his backpack. "We need to leave when Jackson and his father are distracted. Are you okay with this weekend? I know it's short notice, but Friday night is when Jackson is throwing his party," he looked at tickets, finding a train for that Friday night. "We could skip school on Friday and complete our final things before the party starts,"
Jin looked at his watch, realizing it was Wednesday afternoon. "We can't tell anyone where we're going. How are we supposed to get money?"
"Well, in my little mafia business, we aren't really strangers to stealing," Jin nodded his head. He himself had a few hundred dollars saved for emergencies, and that wasn't even part of his college fund.
The older got out a pen and some paper. Even if he couldn't tell his mom where he was going, he could save her some worry by telling her what he was doing.
Dear Mom,
Don't freak out, but you won't be seeing me for a while. My safety, along with Namjoon's, is at stake right now. He is also with me. I'm so sorry, but I'm not able to tell you where I'm going. If I did, your life could be at risk along with ours. I will have very limited contact with you, in fear that someone could figure out where we are through you. I will get a new phone number when I can and it is best that you save my contact as something that isn't my name. Just wait for a text from an unknown number. I can assure you that we will be much safer outside of Seoul. We don't have all the details yet, but it is better for Namjoon and me that we leave.
Love, your son Jin
He knew that his mother would be heartbroken. But instead of pondering over it, he just simply whispered, "Let's get packing,"
