[AN: please excuse the change in format. I hope it doesn't bother anyone. I'm working on editing the rest of the fic to match but I've gotten busy.]

When it came to summer, me and pony always got summer jobs. Last summer I worked at the Dairy Queen. It was an ok job. Just long and hard hours. Mostly because it's a popular place in the summer. Because of the ice cream. I could see if they are hiring but I didn't feel like working after what happened. I know it's a stupid reason but I just want to relax finally. Not be anxious about missing gang members or worrying about passing math because I missed so many days. But I should get a job. To help Darry and Soda out with third income. And maybe Pony won't have to get a job. He can just be a kid. Then a thought came to me. I could work at the DX. I would be working with my brother and best friend plus it seems like a simple job. Working the station and maybe fixing some cars. I have never fixed a car before but Steve could always teach me. Plus safety in numbers if three of us walk tougher.
"Hey soda?" I called out once I left my room. Still in my pjs since I had just woken up.
"Yeah Peggy?" He was in the kitchen.
He picked up the milk jug and pours himself some as I walked in. "Is the DX hiring?" I asked, leaning up against the counter next to him.
"I don't know. I'll have to ask. Why? You want a job there?" He asked, before practically chugging the glass of milk.
I nodded. "Since I should have some type of summer job."
"I'll ask for ya. I should head out." He puts away the milk before giving me a quick hug. Pony walking in and hugging soda as well before he left the house.
"Morning Pony." I began to make my own breakfast. Just toast and butter.
"Morning Peggy. Me and Johnny are goin to the library and hang out there for a while." He explained.
"Ok." I walked over and kissed his head. "Stay safe ok? Bring a blade with ya. When you are outside the library, stick together."
"We will." He hugs me before leaving me home alone for the day.
Which I couldn't complain.
I finished my comic and was relaxing on the couch. I could leave and go get new comics but I didn't really feel like it. Plus I have no one to go with. Since Darry had been cracking down on me lately to go with someone when I go places. So relaxing and watching tv was my pass time. I had made myself lunch. Just a simple sandwich and coke. Being lazy the rest of the afternoon. The sounds of the door opening quickly gets my attention. I watched as Dallas walks in the house, my attention goes right to the blood on his face, shirt and hands. I quickly get up.
"Why is it that whenever I try to relax, something always happens involving you and blood." I sighed. He stumbled over to me and I quickly get up. I wrap my arm around him and lead him to the bathroom. "Counter." I say, he sits on the counter. The first aid kit was under the sink and we've used it quite a bit since the rumble. I pulled out out and set it on the counter next to Dallas. "What happened?" I asked turning to him, slipping off his jean jacket and setting it aside before I began to clean him up.
"It was the socs....some of them don't know how to let go of a grudge man..." he said.
I gently used a wet rag to clean up the blood on a large cut in his arm. Of course they pulled a blade on him.
"You're never one to run from a fight...." I mumbled. He winced as I cleaned the wound. "Sorry..."
After wrapping his cut, I moved to his face. He had a bloody nose and some bruises. I cleaned off more blood. We sat in silence as I cleaned him up.
"If you want me to I can sew up your jacket." I glanced at him. I've fixed many holes and rips in all of my brothers clothes, so fixing the large cut in Dal's jacket would be easy.
He nodded. "That would be nice."
He seemed distracted. It could have been the aftermath of the fight. I cleaned up the small mess I made, putting away the first aid kit before turning back to Dallas.
"Alright, you're done. Just make sure you-" His hands suddenly grabbed my waist and he pulls me against the counter, between his legs. His lips connecting with mine. It took me a second before kissing back, my hands rested on his chest. Before they slide up to his hair and ran through the hair on the back of his head. He wrapped his arms around my torso and pulls me closer to him. He slowly pulled away, I caught my breath after the kiss. My cheeks felt hot.
"Go on a date with me Peggy." His voice was soft and also a but breathless. It was less of a question and more of a command but I was happy to obey.
"Where would we go?" I asked with a smile.
"Where do you wanna go?" His hand reached up and stroked my cheek gently with his thumb.
"A drive in. But with a car and we pay for the tickets." I said. Knowing it would be better is we did it officially. Instead of sneaking in like we always do. My hand plays with his hair as we spoke.
"Whatever you want doll."
My smile suddenly faded as I realized something. Darry's warning. Not to be around him too much because of his reputation and what happened. "Don't tell the gang." If anyone in the gang knows, it will get back to Darry. And that wouldn't be good for me or for Dal.
"What? Why?" My question caught him off guard.
"My brother isn't exactly your biggest fan right now." I explained. "After what happened...he doesn't want me to hang out with you...too much. Darry said that with what happened with Pony and Johnny, and you in jail he didn't want me to hang out with you since I could get hurt. Which could happen every day as a greaser."
"I'll never understand your brothers logic." He softly shook his head but he cracked a smile and I did too.
"None of us will." I said.
He pulled me in for another kiss our lips moving in sync this time. I wanted to kiss him forever. Inhaling his scent as I kissed him. His arms wrapped around my waist.
We both froze as the first door opened. I quickly pull, stepping aside to the first aid kit. As if I was putting it away.
"Peggy! You home?" Soda calls out.
"Yeah I'm in the bathroom Soda!" I called back.
He appears in the doorway and we both look over at him.
"What happened now?" Soda walks into the bathroom and over to us.
"He got into a fight with the socs. The ones who were at the rumble." I explained for him.
"They pulled a blade on me and I had no where else to go that was close." He explained.
"Leave it to Pegg to take care of us." Soda rubs my shoulder and I smiled at him. "I'm gonna get food." Soda turns and rushed out of the bathroom.
I looked at him. "Smooth Curtis." He chuckled and smirked
I chuckled and hits his arm. "Get out."I teased. He hopped down from the counter and looked out the door, He quickly pecked my lips.
"When will we go out?" He asked in a hushed tone.
"How about tomorrow night? I'll meet you at the lot at sunset?" I suggested.
He nodded. "See ya then doll." He turned and walked out of the bathroom, heading to the door.
