Casual Day

It was just a simple day. He woke up, ate breakfast and went to work. He was in a good mood to say the least. It was just a simple day...until the woman who he had been thinking about all day long casually sat on his desk and said the three words that was enough to shake him

"I love you." She told him with a smile. "I really do...and you know-"

His mind became blank and he dropped the files he was holding. Did she just...confess to him!? The woman that everyone had taken a liking to suddenly just told him that she likes him!? His high school friend!? There's no way...right?

"What...."

"That I love you since high school? Do I need to repeat myself?"

"Please stop saying that—"

"Are you blushing!? You look so cute!"

"No I'm not! We're in the office okay? Who knows someone might—"

She grinned and looked around. "Everyone already went home. Have you forgotten that it's already 5pm?"

True to her words, everyone had already left and there was only her....and him. All alone. It doesn't help that she looked like an Angel. An Angel that he fell for. His co-worker's might dislike him but he can't lose his chance.

"W-would you like to go on a date then?"

She kissed his cheeks. "With you? Always."

"Come on you idiot! This is exactly why I told you to join martial arts or something!" She shouted as the boy tried to stand up. He tripped on their way to school.

"Look at your arms! They're noodle arms!"

He huffed and picked up his bag from the ground. "Don't you dare insult noodles."

She laughed. She helped him pick up his papers and dragged him along. "Yeah yeah! We're going to be late!"

His best friend can be loud if she wants to. She's tough and straight forward. Always looking out for others. She had to be or else no one would be able to take care of her siblings. He's even surprised that she befriended him out of everyone. Him, who focused too much on his studies and her, who prioritizes others before her.

Some say they're a match made in heaven.

"Hey psst. Buddy." She poked his shoulders. He looked up from his books.

"What?"

She looked unsure with what she was going to say. Dare he say she's cute. "Do you really have to go?"

'Do you really have to leave?' Is what she wanted to say, he figured. But she didn't want to make it seem like it's a bad thing. He sighed and closed his book. "Sadly I have to...my mom suddenly wanted to be supportive and told me that she'll send me to the States or somewhere after high school..."

"Oh..."

He swore that he saw a tear from her eyes. But then she smiled and gave him a thumbs up. "Good luck on that!" Maybe he was only seeing things.

He reached out and pushed away the strands that got in the way of her eyes. Her hair was always messy for some reason. "Don't worry, no matter what happens, you'll always be my friend."

She gaped and looked up. "Am I looking at the same person!?"

He smiled sheepishly. "Yes...it's me..."

She took a few steps back. "There's no way that you're the same lanky kid I graduated with four years ago! You're an impostor!"

Seriously. There is no way that the same kid who she used to drag along is now taller than her and is ripped. Compared to the 'noodle arms' years ago. She ignored the way his tight shirt hugged all the right places. Her face was embarrassingly red, she's sure.
