It was the 21st century. A century later.

In this new journey of his, the society needing him was no longer there, only lingering pages of an old book about the way of fire and a dance, a time where he could breathe fresh air without the spikes in his lungs. He can finally walk the flowery paths and run the shorelines where the sun shines.

A journey where he could rest. His dear heart didn’t think it was possible.

But here he was. Standing with a beautiful array of flowers, a bouquet he does not know who to offer.

He had never properly given her such gift before, countless promises lay broken pieces on the concrete ground. “I will forever shower you in these flowers, my love.” Kagaya never gave her one before that monster came. “I’ll make sure that at you will never shed a tear and if you do, it will be during a joyous time.” He heard faint whimpers behind a door, he knew he was the reason.

And who had he made these promises to? She had magnificent eyes, they were a trait only found with those who share the her family blood, yet not once his vigorous search for them was fruitless. And who’s to say she’ll have them in this new journey?

He shouldn’t push his luck, he already spent all of it when the gods had let him remember. Everything but her eyes.

“Amane…are you still going to accept me? Even after all I’ve done?”

For stripping you away of happiness by marrying you.

“Were you truly happy?”

You cried, you were crying my name, you smiled after. All because I couldn’t get better.

“I’m sorry.”

'I chose to be with you, you were the first one that had given me the chance to choose, I will always say yes Kagaya-sama.' You would tell me that, everyday. Can I believe in it? No force would stop me right?

“Right?”

No one answered. Not his children, not even the beating of his heart. She wasn’t there with him after all. Should he continue looking? But where would she be? Where would he start? She had spent years beside a cursed human like him, not once did she asked for a simple getaway, a date by the city, a trip to the meadows. He doesn’t even remember her favorite flowers— if she ever told him.

It’s as if he doesn’t know her—

No. He does. He’s sure he does. They we’re together for ten years. They had children, for responsibility or not. But she had never spoken about herself, she never asked for anything and if she did, it was for others. She was selfless, she had to be because…because

Because of me.

He truly didn’t know her. Once they meet again, he’ll be the one dedicating his life to her, he’ll take his time to know her. He’s only 17 anyways, a youngster in a fog of war, a mind embracing the new world.

She was 17 when we first met, she was 27 and I was 23 when…

Then he saw her. A year later. She smiled at him, she always does. This time- I kept saying ‘this time’… -there’s no curse upon him nor death lingering at every step of the way. She adjusted her bangs behind her ear, a bracelet hanging around her wrist and a pair of blue earrings. And he recognized her, almost immediately, did she too?

When was the last time he saw her with accessories that compliments her so much? A few occasions, even then- did I get to see them? Did I ever complimented her? She looks so beautiful in everything…have I ever gifted her any?
