You and the toymaker walked through the mist filled woods, echoes of snapping twigs and crumbling soil being all you could hear for miles. The air was cold, almost like ice and despite your rather thick coat you felt every chill and every blast of wind. You shivered, softly sneezing as the weather began to get the better of you. Jason looks over at you, slight disgust on his face as he reaches into his pockets to grab you a hankie. " Avoid being so vulgar in future " You nod, wiping your nose and trying your best not to displease the immortal being again. Maybe the cold didn't effect the toymaker since he wasn't exactly human. You learned something new every day and yet it was another thing to be mindful of, another thing that could anger Jason.
You didn't want that. You suddenly hear the toymaker stop in his tracks, looking off at something very faint in the distance.
" Here we are " You turn to face the same direction, a small cabin house among the trees being all your vision could make out. Your breath hitches, watching with slight fear as the toymaker continues walking forward.
" Wait! " You grab a black sleeve of the feathered jacket tightly, resonating a scowl in response from Jason. He was frowning deeply, anger and disappointment being the only emotions you could read.
" Is this really a good idea? Who knows how mad Puppeteer still is " The see the features of the toymaker soften slightly, able to sense your concern and genuine fear for his life. You cared for him and you were loyal. That was all Jason ever wanted and while it didn't lower his defenses completely you found out a long time ago this was the best way to avoid unpredictable conflict between you. Not that what you said was ever a lie, it had never been, no matter how harsh or loving the comment was. Your hand is removed from the sleeve somewhat gently, Jason looking deep into your soul with a smug smirk and a gleam in his eye. He was on the boarder line between human and monster, his most tolerable form.
" Have a little faith my dear " He continues on confidently. You follow after slowly and fearfully. You didn't know Puppeteer like Jason did, fear of the unknown toying with both your heart and your head.
How ironic.
The front door of the cabin comes into the clearing. The wood was chipped, covered in black mould from too much exposure to the rain. In fact the whole building looked unstable, ready to collapse at any second. You step back, still unsure about what could transpire here. You didn't want the creature inside the home to kill you nor did you want the home to fall upon you all and potentially end your existence. Your heart beat so fast, almost jumping from your body due to the extreme fear adrenaline you were feeling. You would have run in that moment if the toymaker didnt grab your arm and pull you forward with a deep growl, claws digging into your skin deeply to stop you from moving too much.
" You left me no choice " You sigh, blocking out the pain as the sound of hard knocking on wood fills the area around you.
No answer.
" How dare you! " Jason knocks harder on the door, the grip on your arm so tight you were afraid he would tear it off at any moment.
He continues, screaming at the door and knocking harder and harder until it opened with a huge crash, a shout resonating back at the toymaker and into the deep dark forest.
" What the hell do you want?! " The air is silent for a moment, the only sound being that of the toymaker pulling you forward accompanied by a pained yelp. You look into the golden eyes of the Puppeteer, pain written all over your face. He scoffs.
" You dare show yourself here after what you did? " Jason chuckles, moving red bangs from in front of his golden eyes as to get a better look at his immortal equal. He fixes his hat with a free hand, staring intently into the bright golden eyes across from him.
" You have something I need " The Puppeteer frowns, stepping aside and allowing you both to enter.
" Make it quick before I change my mind toymaker " You are dragged inside behind your creator, still having your arm in a death grip. You give a disheartened look to the black draped man, watching as he grabs Jason in passing. He tuts and scowls at  him.
" Ler her go. She's gettin' blood on my floors " Looking behind himself with a  look of dismay you feel yourself be set free by the toymaker. It was almost like he had forgotten his own actions, forgetting to let you free and if the look on his face was anything to go by he felt somewhat bothered by his forgetfulness. It didn't last though, the sharp smile soon coming to the surface as Jason went about his business. It never lasted long but when it happened it was a welcomed break, a reminder that under that skin there was a man who actually did care despite his flaws.
You are suddenly reminded of that dream you had. What if something was happening to Jason but you were too blind to see? As of late he had more of these as he would call, lapses in judgement were his personality wasn't properly in check. That was just a dream though. Maybe nothing was going wrong and you were just paranoid, worried for his safety. You sigh, letting the thoughts slide for now. There were more important matters to attend to.
" Sit down and let's get this done "
