You lay Jason down gently in his bed, watching as those blackened tears still rolled down his pale face in his troubled sleep. He had reverted back to his kinder self after crying out for a while, the monster inside himself finally letting him rest. You run your hand over his jawline, smiling softly but also worried about the state of your beloved toymaker. You had never seen him act like that, never seen his personalities mix. This didn't send your heart fluttering much like the toymaker had always with his sweet words and sadistic actions. No. What you felt was a deep seeded worry that made your blood boil somewhat. You tried to ignore it when your first saw Vine but something about him made you uneasy and sick, almost making you feel like the blood inside you would begin congealing. Perhaps it was Jason's blood that coursed through your veins causing these reactions, it being obvious that the two had a history in some way. The thought stirred inside you like a violent hurricane until you could bear it no longer, your heart feeling like it would break from your chest if you did nothing about that deep sense of foreboding.

You stand from Jason's bedside, leaving the room and closing the door ever so gently as to not disturb the sleeping toymaker. He needed rest, knowing that both his personalities fighting for control would wear him out. Now to find out some more about Vine. You knew that Jason kept record of his living life and continued doing it after he turned into the monster he is now, this causing you to smile gently. You loved how almost poetic Jason was when he wrote, a true reflection of the person he used to be. You wondered if he ever kept a photographic record of his life, almost yearning to see him as a full human. You shake the thought, finding it better not to ask. Jason was very secretive about his life, even with his Chosen One. You rummage quietly around the bookshelf in the workshop, sneezing softly from the dust that now flew through the air. It was obvious the toymaker hadn't touched these books in years, maybe decades. You take a moment to peruse through the book titles, having never done so despite living with Jason for quite some time. What you read made your stomach churn and your skin pale.

'  Flesh wax. A guide to making a living doll '

' Blood stain removal guide '

You decide not to read on, knowing that Jason probably used these when he first turned but no longer had a use for them. With a deep sigh you stand from your crouched position, wishing to return back to the toymaker's room and sit by his side until he awoke. You turn to the door, a yelp escaping your lips from sheer and utter surprise. One of Jason's dolls stood in front of you, a pristine but slightly worn book in her hands. You move in closer to get a better look. The title was peculiar and nothing like the other books Jason owned.
