"I am going out tonight with Bella. We're going to a concert. We have been planning and looking forward to this for so long." Jenna paced back and forth, looking up with a smile. "Don't ruin this for me," Jenna said, then looking him in the eyes with a stern look on her face.
Nate sat there with a blank look on his face. "Why would you say that, dear?" Nate asked, ostentatiously sipping his coffee as he opened the newspaper.
"Oh, I don't know. Maybe because you always overreact even with the tiniest things," Jenna remarked with a hint of annoyance in her tone.
"You know I only act like that because I care about you." Nate justified. Jenna walked away, not saying a word to him. She knew it was better if she just kept her mouth shut.
"Hey! Don't you walk away from me! I was talking to you!" Nate yelled, standing up with rage, his chair falling to the floor behind him.
"Well, maybe I don't want to hear what you have to say!" Jenna stormed into her bedroom, not looking back at him, and slammed her door, locking it. She got out her phone quickly and called Bella. No answer. She called a couple more times and by the third time Bella picked up, sounding groggy and totally out of it.
"Where are you? Are you ready? We have things to do before tonight..remember?" Jenna said, talking a mile a minute.
"Yes, of course. I'm just... having a rough morning that's all. I will be ready in 30 minutes, meet me over here," Bella said, now awake and quickly moving through her hotel room and into the bathroom. She became disappointed as she looked at herself in the mirror. Last night's makeup smeared all over her face, hair knotted in several places and she didn't even get the guy's name. No surprise. Who would want to be with this mess anyways. She probably scared him off anyway.
Bella sat on the edge of her bed drying her hair after getting out of the shower. She heard a knock on the door. She opened it up to see Jenna wide awake and early to pick her up.
"Good morningggg!" she said all bright-eyed and filled with unnecessary pep.
"You're here early?" Bella asked, full of confusion and annoyment.
"I wanted to get out of the house," she said, letting herself into the hotel room. "Nate was bugging me this morning," Jenna rolled her eyes.
"What'd he do this time?" Bella asked, not surprised by Nate's actions.
"Nevermind...Whose shoes are those on the floor?" Jenna asked, losing interest in Bella's conversation and walking over to the light brown leathery dress slippers.
Bella didn't reply, she thought if she didn't reply, the situation would have been forgotten. Jenna picked up the shoes and dangled them in front of her face, waiting for an answer.
"I'm waiting," she taunted.
"Okay listen, I don't exactly know, but I may have had a boy here last night," Bella timorously rambled.
Jenna stared at her with a blank face "not surprised."
Bella stopped "wow ok," feeling slightly offended by Jenna's words, she laughs it off.
"Well if this man is half as cute as the shoes he wears, I hope he's not just one of your usual flings."
Again feeling offended by Jenna, Bella snapped: "hey!"
"Well, you and I both know that you are afraid of commitment!"
"Hey, again!" Bella said in more of a joking manner. "But yeah, last night was so amazing! But I'll probably never see him again" Bella said, distraught.
"You didn't even get his name?? His number?" Jenna asked.
"He ran out of the room and left soon after I woke up!"
"Well, that doesn't sound promising..." Jenna said, crossing her arms, losing hope in Bella's one-night stand.
"Well, he said he had some important business to get to," Bella replied, defending him. "And he said I'd find him...whatever that meant"
"And he forgot his shoes?" Jenna asked unimpressed, by this mysterious man. Jenna was still examining the expertly crafted shoes.
"Listen, don't question him. I don't even know him, I was just waking up as he was putting on his pants to leave." Bella explained going back into the bathroom to do her makeup.
"Wait a second... No, they couldn't be his," Jenna murmured to herself, but Bella didn't hear. "Are those Jake Kiszka's shoes!?... no they couldn't possibly be."
"What was that?" Bella asked from the bathroom.
"Oh, nothing, just examining the shoes," Jenna lied, brushing off her thoughts.
"You're weird," Bella chuckled, rolling her eyes. "You have the backstage passes, right?"
"Of course! Why wouldn't I? That was the first thing I picked up this morning." Jenna explained, opening her purse and flashing them at her.
"Ok just checking," Bella said with a smile.
They left for their nail appointment, and then went out to lunch. They couldn't wait for the concert. On their way home to get ready for the show Bella asked Jenna a few questions:
"So...who exactly is this band we're seeing? Gret Van Flee?" Bella asked, looking at her ticket.
"First of all. They are called Greta Van Fleet," Jenna over-enunciated the name of the band condescendingly.
"Well, I'm sorry my ticket was smudged!" she said, her cheeks filling with color in embarrassment.
"Whatever. Anyways... Greta Van Fleet is this newer rock band. I just found out about them later last year. I think you'd like them," Jenna explained.
"Well you know I'd listen to anything rock, so I'm on board!" Bella said excitedly.
