The world was a cruel place. It took away the innocence of all people living in it. You needed to become a stronger version of yourself to be able to survive.
And that was what happened to Kayra Underwood. She was forced to grow up much faster than she should have.
Living in district 12, the poorest district of all Panem, you needed to fend for yourself, because if you didn't, nobody else would do it for you.
Kayra was the only child of the Underwood family.
She had been a surprise. Her parents had never wanted children, they didn't want them to grow up in a world like that. However, when Kayra was born, they were glad to have brought her into the world. She was their little ray of sunshine.
As an only child, she got bored at home. His father worked at the mines such as most people at 12th and her mother had a small shop that sold healing herbs. That's why her parents encouraged her to make friends and at the age of 5, she met Katniss Everdeen and Gale Hawthorne.
