"a different girl now, but there's nothing new. i know you get deja vu"

-----

4 years later

Avalon picked up two dandelions, even though it was only herself in the field. She closed her eyes and blew on the first dandelion and made a wish.

When she opened her eyes, there were still a few white seeds on her dandelion, which meant that the dandelion gods were probably not going to take it into consideration.

Then, she held up the second dandelion. Avalon was going to blow out the dandelion and make a wish for Sirius. She didn't think that he came here anymore, since it was their old spot, so she would always make a wish for him.

Avalon suddenly heard the crunching of leaves under the snow from a distance. She dropped the dandelion onto the ground and hurriedly climbed up the large tree. Avalon climbed multiple branches so she was up where the rest of the leaves were. No one could possibly see her unless they had really, really good eyesight.

Avalon peered at the couple coming into the clearing. A blonde, blindfolded girl was being led by the one and only Sirius Black.

He'd grown over the years and Avalon thought that was great, because he only became more and more attractive and received more and more admirers.

She would always love Sirius. He was her best friend.

She didn't know if she fancied him though. Avalon hadn't had a real conversation with him in years, ever since their fallout.

Avalon watched as the blonde girl smiled and asked, "Sirius, are you still there?"

Her voice was so angelic and airy. Avalon wished that she had such a graceful voice. Her voice was hard and raspy at the same time, and she hated it.

"Yeah, I'm here, princess."

Princess.

Sirius walked towards the girl and carefully lifted her blindfold. Her blue eyes fluttered open and Avalon cringed at the two of them looking at each other. It was like they were soulmates or star-crossed lovers something, and Avalon was definitely bitter when she thought that she hated them.

"What is this place?" the girl asked, her eyes diverting from Sirius'. He moved out of the way so she could take in her surroundings and she smiled at the flowers on the ground.

"This is where I come to think sometimes."

"In a field of dandelions?"

"Yes, in a field of dandelions, you stupid hoe," Avalon hissed silently. "Dandelions are where the dandelion gods and goddesses are. Have you no common sense?" She prevented herself from speaking too loud because she didn't want them to overhear her, but Avalon felt the need to pounce on them.

"Yes," Sirius chuckled, "in a field of dandelions. I found this place less than a year ago."

Avalon helplessly watched as Sirius picked up two dandelions, one of them being the dandelion that Avalon had dropped a few seconds ago. He handed that one to the blonde who looked like a better version of Avalon.

The girl held the small flower by the stem with both of her hands, her thin eyebrows raised in question. Avalon only narrowed her eyes at the blonde.

"You're supposed to close your eyes and make a wish when you blow it," Sirius explained. "Whenever I come here, I pick up a dandelion and I make a wish. It's like birthday candles basically. They could come true if you wish really hard."

"You must've had a lot of different wishes then," she giggled.

"Nope, just one. I wish for the same thing every time," Sirius said.

He seemed happy. Avalon didn't want to intrude on that. It just made her feel horrible that in all of her wishes, she wished for one thing. One selfish thing.

Avalon hoped that maybe, the wish Sirius was talking about was her.

She wished that he was wishing for her.

The girl beside Sirius closed her eyes tightly. Sirius watched in awe as she blew the small white seeds off and they floated into the air, taken away by the wind.

She looked very familiar. Avalon narrowed her eyes at the pretty girl. She was in some of Avalon's classes.

Caroline Pettigrew. Peter Pettigrew's younger sister. Avalon used to be jealous of Caroline and look at them now. Avalon scoffed to herself.

Caroline's blue eyes opened and she looked at Sirius expectantly.

Sirius seemed to understand what she was waiting for as he followed suit and blew his dandelion while making a wish.

Avalon watched as the two laughed together and she watched Sirius grab her hand. Sirius walked off back in the same direction the couple came from.

Avalon sat on her branch instead of standing and she let her legs hang down. Avalon had her back to the trunk as she looked out into the sky, where the seeds were barely visible in the distance.

She knew that Sirius wasn't wishing for her. Maybe he never wished for her, or maybe he just wasn't wishing for her anymore.

And she wished the best for Sirius, but she also wished that every time he was with Caroline Pettigrew, he would get deja vu.
