*Amelia's P.O.V.*

Why is Adam so adamant? I don't want him anywhere near that city. I thought. I was packing my bags. I am not in much rush. New Jersey is just a 2-hour drive from here. "I am driving. Get in the car!" I told Adam. Don't get me wrong. I love that he cares about me. But that town holds something horrible. My Past.

"You mind making a pit stop?" Adam asked. We have been on road for half an hour. I find a nice cafe to stop at. I ordered a coffee while Adam came from the tinkle. "Are you sure you wanna do this?" Adam asked sitting next to me. "I am. Are you?" He nods his head and squeezes my hand.

We reach home around 2 in the afternoon. "Mom! Dad!" I shout. "Amy!" They both scream at the same time. "Adam!" Mom said after pulling away from me. I got Adam to talk to my mum after we became official. They were meeting him for the first time, in person. Dad was a bit confused. I get it. Fathers! I rolled my eyes at the thought.

That night, after dinner, I felt nauseous. I don't know why but I felt uncomfortable. Dad didn't let Adam sleep in my room. Obviously! Nevertheless, there I was, knocking on Adam's door at midnight. Somehow I needed that cuddle. "What?" Adam said, groggily. "I... I can't sleep in my room. Can I sleep with you?" I asked. He gestured me to come inside and we went to bed. He slept with one arm under my head and the other over me.

"Good Morni- AMY!!! What are you doing here?" My dad shouted the next day. We had barely opened our eyes and dad's shouting did not help. "Ugh, dad! Don't shout."I said, rubbing my eyes. "Good morning, sweetheart!" I turned to Adam. He hummed a good morning and we got out of bed. "Ease up, dad! We didn't do anything last night." I said, walking past him. At the breakfast table, dad was glaring at Adam with a death stare. "So, Adam... Sleep well last night?" Mom teased. Dad looked at her with shock. I couldn't help but let out a slight chuckle. Mum knew about me and Adam sleeping together and she did it to annoy dad. Dad shook his head and ate his breakfast. "I'll see you in the afternoon. Ok, honey?" Dad said before going to work. He looked at Adam and gave the 'I am watching you' gesture. I giggled at his reactions. "Wow, he is protective," Adam said.

I decided to go for a walk around town. Maybe see my old school. Adam wanted to come with me. But I convinced him to stay so I can have some time to myself.

Try not to think about it. Try to take in the sights. I say to myself. As I was wandering through one of the alleyways, I heard a familiar voice behind me. "Well, if it isn't Amelia Grant." I turned around to find Beverly Mark, my school bully. Before I moved to Melbourne, I studied at Newark Public School. Beverly used to bully me for no reason, whatsoever.

I was kinda shocked to see her. She had big and fancy dreams about moving to Milan or Paris and becoming a model in school. But here she is.

"Hey Beverly," I respond. "Hm... Acting all nice, I see." She responded with a smug look on her face. "Seriously?! Do you have to show yourself superior even after years of school? Grow up," I said, trying to keep my confidence. My past is hovering over me, making me feel meek and vulnerable. "You do know, I left Newark because of you and your dad!" I said. She scoffed and said, "Aw! Little Amy is trying to be all courageous. How adorable!" She shoved me against the wall. She is strong. And my mental state makes it even harder to break free from her. "You didn't scare me then, you don't scare me now! And as for why you left, I simply don't give a fuck!" She whispered and walked away.

Wow! That was uncalled for.
