You weren't so sure about Dabi working with number two hero, Hawks, but you kept your opinion to yourself. You hadn't been in the LOV as long as he had and for that reason, you decided to try and respect his decision. You had originally joined because you wanted a new age without heroes to cause further pain and destruction; you had seen far too many people fall down the wrong path because of what a hero did-- or failed to do-- to them. You knew that good bred bad, and if there was no more good then there couldn't possibly be any more bad, right?
There were no faults in your thinking, you only needed an organisation to back you since your quirk didn't make you the strongest. Your quirk was Sandman; it allowed you to send people to sleep for however long you wanted by using sand produced from your palms. This sand also doubled as a form of attack. Lastly, you could also intrude on the mind by entering the dreams of others. To you it wasn't good for offense or defense but you used it as best as you could. Relying on your quirk wasn't an option so you trained to become stronger in order to hold your own in this league of immensely strong and agile villains.
Dabi seemed to sense your uneasiness about working with Hawks so he decided to use you to meet the hero. You had only watched their meetings from the shadows, but you still couldn't shake the feeling that something was off about Hawks. When Dabi left the building, you remained in hiding, watching Hawks.
"You can come out now, I know you're there." He suddenly called out, shocking you. He laughed when you didnt move.
"I'm pretty sharp, you know. Now, are you going to come out or should I help you?" He asked, looking in your direction. Your eyes widened as you shakily stepped out. His eyes widened at the sight of you. You seemed so weak and frail, not to mention you were shaking.
"Who are you? Why are you here?" He asked, crossing his arms before quickly uncrossing them. He didn't want to scare you off because you seemed flighty, like you would run any minute now. Crossing his arms would make him appear hostile and that was the last thing he wanted.
"I'm (y/n)" your voice wavered. You were in the presence of the number two hero and you were completely defenseless, especially against someone as good as him.
"Well, (y/n), what's a cutie like you doing here?" He asked, bending over to put his hands on his knees. He was mocking you.
"I'm with the League of Villains." You crossed your arms, pouting slightly. You were both relieved and irritated he didn't take you seriously. But to be fair, you were simply wearing black leggings and a sandy coloured tank top.
"What's with that face?" He asked, clearly amused.
"You don't take me seriously. Your body is so relaxed." You point out. He stands up a bit straighter after your words.
"Should I?" He raised an eyebrow.
"I don't know." You shrugged, your face getting hot.
"Now, why is another member of the league here?" He asked, walking over to stand closer to you. You couldn't help but take a step back out of worry.
You wanted to yell at him that you didn't trust him at all, that you wanted him to leave you guys alone, that he had ulterior motives. But you thought back to what Dabi had told you earlier. Dabi didn't trust Hawks either, that was why he sent you to gain his trust. Your mission was to get close to him and figure out what he was planning.
"I... I guess I just wanted to see you up close." You turned your face away so he wouldn't see it flush with embarrassment. You couldn't believe this was the approach you decided to take with him.
"Aw, you a fan of me?" He asked, his face suddenly in yours. You gasped as you backed up quickly, only to trip and fall onto the floor. You looked up at him laughing with his hands on his stomach.
"I'm not a fan! I've just never seen wings before... I thought they looked pretty." You explained as you hung your head, cringing internally at revealing so much. It was all true, you thought they looked so cool and beautiful.
"Really?" He asked, his eyes widening as a slight blush tinted his own cheeks.
"But you never heard me say that!" You shook your arms, worried he would try to embarass you.
"Okay, okay, I didn't hear anything." He laughed.
"How about I let you keep a feather?" He offered, his laugh fading away.
"I..." Your eyes widened.
"Come on, you know you want it." He lowered himself so his knee was on the floor as he waved one in front of your face. You slowly reached out and touched it.
The bright red feather was soft and light. And yet, they were so sturdy, this you knew after seeing him in videos. The ends were also sharp. You were fascinated as you turned it over in your hand.
"You like it?" He asked, tilting his head slightly.
"It's even more amazing this close up. They're... They're beautiful!" You exclaimed, your eyes lighting up. Once again, a tint flushed over his cheeks but you weren't paying attention.
"Do people not give you gifts often?" He asked.
"No, this has to be my first one. Thank you very much, Hawks." You smiled widely.
"Why have I been dealing with Dabi this whole time when you were there all along?" He rubbed the back of his neck in annoyance. You only giggled.
If only you knew what trouble meeting him would cause... Despite this, you'd have done everything the exact same way as long as it meant you still got to love him.
