You Tried to Make Hawks Jealous

You tried to make Hawks jealous. Key word tried. You didn't find too much success, much to your dismay. But how could have possibly made him jealous when he wasn't even looking at you, per usual. Typical of your hero boyfriend to put the world before you, it was practically a rule of dating a Pro-Hero.

Here you were, sitting at the bar with a pout and arms crossed over your chest. Childish? Yes, very, but you were so tired of not getting his full undivided attention anymore that it didn't matter how childish you looked. You wanted attention and you wanted it now. Would Hawks give it to you? Probably not.

You had tried flirting with obvious body language, touching this random guy's arm and laughing at all his stupid jokes. However, a quick glance told you that HE wasn't even looking your way. You could be getting kidnapped by some villain and he would have never even known. How dare he neglect you like this.

"So... Are we trying to get lucky tonight?" The random's words demanded your attention.

"Get lucky?" You scowled at his choice of words. How trashy! Just who did he think you were?

"I-I thought we were getting along." He put his hands up, defending himself.

"You thought wrong. Get out of here." You waved him away and he left with a frown. You sighed as you turned to order another drink.

"Trying to get someone's attention?" A voice asked beside you.

"Yeah, but not yours." You rolled your eyes before turning to the man speaking.

"Yeah, I've been watching you long enough to know you've got someone specific on your mind." He slid into the newly occupied seat next to you. His white spiked up hair screamed frat boy but his slate grey eyes seemed far too kind for that label.

"Doesn't matter if he isn't even looking at me." You sighed as you took one more glance at Hawks' back. Yup, he still wasn't looking.

"Crush or...?" He asked, waiting for you to answer.

"My boyfriend actually." You responded, sadly leaning into the bar counter.

"That's rough." The guy sucked in air between his teeth.

"Yeah, thanks for that." You tilted your drink out towards him before pulling it back to yourself. Even this guy got it, which only made you feel worse.

"You gotta show him that he could lose you at any moment. You're staying with him not because you need him but because you want him." He said, making sure to emphasise the word 'want.'

"What's your name?" You asked, narrowing your eyes slightly.

"Natsuo," he answered, holding his hand out for you. You shook it with much less force than he expected, this much obvious by his slightly widened eyes.

"Well, Natsuo, it's not that simple." You bitterly smiled as you explained.

"Don't pay so much attention to him, don't even look his way. If you focus entirely on someone else then he'll notice, I promise. Guys all half pay attention so they'll notice when they don't get your all." He explained before shrugging nonchalantly.

"Fine." You sighed, having nothing to lose from trying this guy's tactic.

And so, you listened to your new friend, you paid no attention to Hawks the entire night, immersing yourself entirely into your conversation with Natsuo. By the end of the night, you had way more fun than you expected, all because you stopped focusing on Hawks.

"Is this where you've been all night, kid?" A very familiar voice made you shiver with excitement.

"Baby, there you are! Meet Natsuo." You smiled as you placed a hand on Natuso's bicep. Hawks took notice of this and his eyebrow quirked up.

"Wow, I didn't expect the pro-hero Hawks." Natsuo smiled nervously.

"Yeah, I can see that. Ready to get out of here, kid?" Hawks stared at you intently.

"Hold on, let me give Natsuo my number." You held your hand out and Natsuo gave up his phone, he had already known better than to disobey you. You entered your number and smiled extra sweetly as you gave it back.

"Come on, let's go." Hawks took your hand rather roughly, taking extra care just to be sure to show Natsuo the action. You waved goodbye to your new friend as you left.

"You trying to make me jealous, kid?" He asked as soon as you got outside.

"What do you mean?" You innocently asked.

"You know what I mean. I'm a man, you can't expect you can just do these things to me and get away with it. So, what's up, why did you need to make me jealous?" He asked, giving you a sharp look. You knew you shouldn't play dumb again, not with that look he was giving you.

"I need attention from you." You answered, holding onto his hand tighter.

"Aw, that's it? You're just too cute, it's a good thing you're mine. Fine, more attention will go to you from now on." He smiled as he cupped your cheeks with both his hands. He waited for you to nod before he placed a soft kiss on your forehead and released your cheeks.

Maybe you did make him jealous... Either way, you got what you wanted and in a way, he did too, because now he has a reason to spend more time with you.
