(Y/n) hated hero work and that was the honest truth. From a young age, you had always been told that you were meant for greatness. Being the child of two of the world's most famous and beloved heroes meant that you were supposed to follow in your parents' footsteps. Being raised around pro heroes only allowed you to see the darker and more corrupt side of hero work that other people didn't see. The bribes, killings, and illegal activities that heroes took part in made you sick to your stomach. You hated being forced to be a pro hero and you hated never being able to make that choice for yourself.

An extremely powerful quirk only solidified that road for you. Your quirk was an absorption quirk that even you didn't have a name for. You were able to steal the energy of others and turn it into energy for you to use. You were able to emit this energy into more physical means by turning it into blasts that coils be used against your enemy. The problem with your quirk was its unpredictability. If you weren't focused correctly, you could begin to drain the life energy of those around you. Too much absorption made you incredibly sick and often brought you to the brink of death. You were forced to rely on your combat skills because your quirk was far too dangerous to use on normal occasions.

When the league of villains showed up, you knew that you would be sent to the front lines and you would be forced to use that dangerous quirk of yours. They were seen as a completely big and real threat but you only saw them as some rebellious little punks, the true villains were the masterminds pulling on their strings. Their numbers were intimidating at times but their quirks could easily be avoided by you without question.

You knew all this and yet here you were, struggling in a fight against them. This was no normal fight, this was a battle. You knew that in the long term, every battle mattered and every war had to be won by heroes. The villains only needed to win once for the public to lose all trust in heroes. Truthfully, you wanted that trust to be lost-- you wanted the world to see heroes for who they really were. They were no better than civilians, no, they were far worse. They forced you-- and countless other heroes-- to risk their lives using dangerous quirks for the sake of scaring the villains. It was reckless, it was dangerous, and it was utterly stupid.

In this particular battle, you had been able to separate and corner their acting leader, Shigaraki Tomura. You had felt accomplished despite the fact that you had not won just yet. From what Eraser Head had told everyone, Shigaraki was not physically the best opponent to face since he had poor combat abilities. However, what he lacked in physical strength he made up for in quirk devastation. Just like you, his quirk had the ability to be fatal should it go too far. It was for this reason that the higher ups ordered he be taken out using deadly force if needed. They were far too trigger happy about this in your opinion, but an order is an order.

"You've got nowhere left to run, Shigaraki-san." You called out into the dark, empty building. It was abandoned and your voice echoes throughout its graffitied walls.

"Come on out and fight me. Let's get this over with, shall we? I don't want to be out here for longer than I have to be." You scratched the top of your head, hoping he either ran away quickly or he was going to simply give up. It was a foolish and naive thought but you still could hope for this simplicity. You walked around the room slowly, analysing every shadow and sound. There was no sign of him anymore and you almost breathed a sigh of relief.

"Pro Hero Eltrocus, I've been dying to see you up close." A voice called out of the darkness. You whipped your head around trying to figure out where the voice came from.

"Well, would you like to get closer? I've been dying to see you up close too." You remark, rolling your eyes slightly before continuing your search.

"So that you can fight me? I'd rather not." He laughed... He laughed? He seriously laughed at you? This guy has seriously got something wrong with him.

"If you turn yourself in then I wouldn't have to fight you, ya know." You put your hands on your hips as you decided to simply stand in the centre of the room. You could track where he was in the room if you actively used your quick to begin stealing his energy. However, one wrong move and you could seriously harm not only him but yourself as well.

"I know how this works, you get me to reveal myself then you fight me regardless of the threat I pose before you hand me over to the proper authorities who then rough me up as well." He scoffed. You struggled to not close your eyes as you tried to find him. This abandoned building had a lot of rats and so you were struggling to find Shigaraki.

"I'm not like them." You nearly spat out.

"I know." He quickly responded, his voice softer.

"Oh? Is somebody a fan? I should say I'm honoured." You rolled your eyes.

"I've done my research on you, You should have been number 1 pro hero but the hero association had gotten into too many quarrels with you so that title was given to someone else who followed their orders obediently. You were cast aside to the lower ranks, number 36." His voice sounded closer than before, but his words made you lose your focus.

"What did you say?" You froze.

"I know what they've done to you as well. All those experiments they did on you, all those times they used your quirk to squash their own foes, all those times your life was treated with as much importance as an old pair of socks." His voice sounded as though it were right behind you at this point. Your heartbeat quickened. He knew everything.

"How did you...?" You breathed out.

"They've abused you to add to their corrupt system and you let them. There are so many other victims besides you. You want revenge, don't you?" He asked. You knew that it didn't just sound like his voice was behind you, he was behind you. He had been behind you for quite some time now but you were too focused on the accuracy of his words.

"I..." Your words hitched in your throat as his hand wrapped around your throat. His arm was wrapped around your neck in a way that he could grasp your throat and have full control over you. You could feel his chest pressed against your back. He couldn't have been as weak as Eraser Head said, not with a body like this one felt...

"Tell the truth, (y/n), you want revenge on all those who abused your power. With us, the revenge you seek isn't just a fantasy, it's real. You could get back at hero society, at its corrupt members. You get everything you dreamed of. Come on, (y/n), think about it." His fingers tightened their grip around your neck. The odd thing was that his grip, though firm, didn't hurt. In fact, you were comfortable in his hands despite the risk of his quirk destroying you within seconds.

His hand pushed your chin up into the sky and you were able to look back and see his determined gaze. He wasn't frightening like the UA students had described, nor was he evil like All Might had claimed; no, he was a member of society who too had seen the corruption and flaws. He was just like you.

"I want revenge."
