Lorenzo let his gaze wander through the view the great window offered him, presenting him the beautiful garden of the country house which still appeared so much smaller than his family's mansion.
He couldn't repress the grin that casually played on his lips while thinking about the day they moved in.
Nearly one year ago he had signed the purchase agreement that made him the official owner of the one store idyllic country house and he did not regret it one single second.
It lied in close proximity to the mansion, a few kilometres apart though. But he was able to reach it within 20 minutes by car.
He felt quite carefree while being his very own, vulnerable self. Here, he did neither have to think about his role as member of the Este family nor about being stabbed while sleeping peacefully.
Naturally that did not change any of his duties that still remained illegal and dangerous but that had been his life style for as long as he could remember.
Since Levi had joined his life, it became a lot more bearable, though.
He then threw a glance on his black watch.
As it was half past seven, it would still take his boyfriend at least one and a half hours to get up. He could tell from experience by now.
A quiet whimper and the sound of claws clumsily scratching the light-coloured gloss paint stopped his train of thoughts.
A big, shaggy, brown dog stared at him through great, round eyes as he opened the door.
Cattivo was a trained guide dog that Lorenzo bought for Levi shortly after they moved.
His whole childhood he had been convinced of the fact that pets were a waste of time. The Dobermans that lived as watchdogs in cages next to the garages just remained merely as bloodthirsty beasts without moral and intelligence within his memory.
Accordingly, his intention in buying the German Shepard mix had rather been of practical nature rather than his love for animals.
Levi who most definitely considered himself a cat person instantly fell in love with his new four-legged friend that gullibly followed him ever since and had already proven itself as an efficient aid in his daily life.
It took some time for Lorenzo and the dog to break the ice though - exactly until Enzo discovered that the dog had been an excellent training partner.
While Levi couldn't be convinced to do more than a little running session, the dog never complained and had instead been eager to accompany him on every of his numerous activities which could include a few sprints, mountain climbing or a biathlon even.
Added to that, he couldn't stand Matteo and even bit his hand once, which actually granted Lorenzo some inner satisfaction.
Even though he truly loved his cousin he had never really forgiven him for nearly-stabbing Levi.
"Come on", he said to the dog, that barked happily. "Let's go for a little run before your master finally gets up."
One hour later Lorenzo's sweaty, muscular body finally relaxed under the sensation of the steamy, hot water running down every inch of his skin. He directly jumped into the shower after returning from his quick morning run with Cattivo. Levi only gave him a muffled "Good morning" as a response to his question, if he wasn't keen on joining him. Enzo smirked. At least he was awake now which kinda was a progress.
At least the sound of him setting the table made Levi decide to finally leave the bed.
Lorenzo was turning the last one of his famous notorious pancakes in an almost chef like flip (as he would insist in describing it) when Cattivo greeted Levi gushingly, who was just about to enter the kitchen. The blind grinned and bend down to pet the dogs messy, thick fur.
