Arya was running

Arya was running. She has to keep up her endurance. So far she could see, there were no traces of others behind her.
She wanted to stay with Hoseok a few miles ago, but Hoseok insisted she go ahead.

This miles test was a crucial point in her performance rankings. She was struggling and battling with all the setbacks from the moments she had stepped into this Academy.

Nobody among her instructors and administration liked her. Nobody means nobody. They were tired of punishing her for breaking every rule that existed in the academy.

She was bubbly, liked to play along, never actually cared about the rules and instructions. She lived her life by her rules. And that's why punishment, extra drills, and warnings were her regular companions.
But she didn't care about those either. Unless she does something vital, they can't throw her out from the academy either. Not to mention, she was one of the brightest and promising officers this Academy produced in a long time.

Being playful doesn't count as a crime, so her rules breakings were skipped in addition to some punishments, every time.

She didn't believe in being the order obeying machine which this Academy demanded and the force demanded. Especially when you are a girl, it becomes harder cause people don't get that women can also have potential or individual perspectives.

Was she treated unfairly?
Not exactly. But she faced troubles more than anyone can ever get. And a lot of those were because of her behavior. And she wasn't keen on changing herself just because she wanted to avoid trouble. If being herself meant facing trouble, then let's just bring it on!

Did her bad reputation lag her?
That's again a No.
She was treated as her performance. She still managed to climb up in ranks in every term. Now she was aiming for the cross belt and commander post.

If she could get this, it would be written down on history.
No female officer in this Academy became commander before.

She was admitted to the hospital for a few days injuring her back, unable to participate in the last mile test causing her performance ranking to go down three steps.

It was time for her redemption. If she wanted to get back up in the competition, she better win this race. Cause she wasn't sure about the next tests. She may not do well in those. So winning this could gain her previous position back, and just doing doable in the next tests should give her enough leverage to keep her position and her chances of being the commander.

She increased her speed. She came up to the tenth mile with Hoseok. But he insisted she go ahead leaving him behind. He already has his position strong but still, encouraged her to up her games.

It's subtle, but Arya can feel that boy has some sort of feelings towards her.

Though Hoseok never said anything, it's her girl hunch. She can get the signal in her girl antenna.
