I couldn't believe it. We found a the way out. Me and Minho. It was only my first time in the Maze.
It was about three o'clock when we saw a Griever lurking in section seven. Out of curiosity, i made Minho come with me as I followed it. It went into a hole in a wall.
We walked up to it and the door opened. We didn't go in. Instead, we ran all the way back to the Glade and got Newt, Frypan, and Gally. Chuck was there, too.
"This is ridiculous!" Gally wasn't too thrilled about what I told them. "We've been here three years—you've been here three days."
"Let her speak," Newt said. He looked thoughtful.
"Thank you," I told him. Then I turned to the others. "Guys, we could escape."
"So you found a Griever hole, and you want us to go into it?" Chuck said, disbelievingly.
"That's the only thing we've found in three years. It's worth a shot," Minho said, standing next to me.
"But you found it so easily," Newt said. "Why haven't we seen the hole before?"
"Because we've never had a Griever to follow. They aren't supposed to be out in the day." Minho replied.
"First Ben, now a Griever seen in the day?" Gally looked angry. At me. "Ever since she came up, weird things have been happening."
"I know that! But it doesn't mean it's her fault!" Minho exclaimed.
Everyone started arguing.
"QUIET!" Everyone went quiet as Winston ran in. "It's Alby."
We all somehow knew what happened and we took off toward the Medwing. Minho and I reached the door first and pushed it open.
I gasped when I saw Alby; he was lying in one of the beds on his back. He didn't have a shirt on and I saw that he had been stung on the stomach. But that's not what made me stare in horror.
Alby was dead. I didn't have to feel for a pulse to know he was.
"Now do you think I'm overreacting?" Gally said.
"We found him near the box," Winston said, ignoring Gally.
"Already dead?" Minho asked. Winston nodded. Minho and Newt has tears in their eyes and I didn't need to look at Chuck to know that he did too.
This was my fault. I couldn't figure out why, but I just knew that it was my fault.
And that we needed to escape.
