The monotonous beeping of your morning alarm tore you out of your pleasant dreams. You grunted and instantly searched for the plug in the half-dark room. Once your fingers grazed the plastic coating of the wire, you forcefully pulled it out, silencing the irritating alarm.

You sighed. Another boring day of school lay ahead. The only person who actually made it worthwhile, was your best friend, and crush, Mingi. He never failed to make you laugh.

After dressing, doing your hair, and preparing some cereal, you packed your various textbooks into your school bag. Then you waited outside for Mingi to meet up with you.

It was easy to recognize him, even from afar. He towered above most people, and his orange hair was unmissable. You quickly picked up your bag and jogged to him. As usual, he was waiting for you with a bright smile.

School was a terrible place for every person who feared social interaction. The crowded hallways in between classes, and the overpopulated cafeteria during break were triggers for anxiety, and recipes for disaster. That's why you used to sit by yourself all the time. Until Mingi found you. Considering that no one really wanted to be friends with you, it came as quite a shock when he offered to be your friend. You still don't know what he saw in you, but you were glad he came into your life nonetheless.

You didn't have other friends besides Mingi, although you did happen to be acquainted with some of his friends. Luckily, you shared all your classes with Mingi, except for History. You shared History with two of his friends, Wooyoung and Yunho.

The school bell rang, signalling that the period had ended and that the next one would be starting in five minutes. Despite the bell, you quickly scribbled a few last notes into your English book.
"Come on, slowpoke! We're gonna be late for our next class," Mingi chuckles from beside you.
"Hold on, I'm almost done."

Mingi rolled his eyes and started packing some of your stationery into your bag.
"If you don't hurry up, I'm leaving without you."
"No!" you exclaimed a little too loudly. Some students turned in your direction, laughing before they exited the classroom.
You quickly gathered your things and got up to head to the next class.

"Geography, here we come!"
Mingi took your hand and rushed through the hallways, dragging you behind him. You were glad that he wasn't focusing on you, otherwise he would've noticed the blossoming blush on your cheeks.

You knew he didn't feel the same way.

Thanks to Mingi, you arrived in class just in time before the teacher could punish you for being late. On your way to your desk, you saw the class leader sitting next to his girlfriend. She was giggling while he planted a quick kiss on her temple. Then he got up with a cute smile and went over to his desk. They were ultimate couple goals. Even the teacher couldn't scold them for their subtle acts of affection.

Sometimes you hated having to see how cute they were together. It just reminded you how single you really were.

"Good afternoon class. You can open your textbooks on page 99 for me."
You obeyed miss Kim's request and opened your textbook, trying to focus on the schoolwork instead of the aching feeling inside of your chest.

Mingi's POV

Miss Kim was busy explaining about El Niño and La Niña. I tried my best not to sigh and glanced over at y/n instead. She looked like she was immersed in the work, her eyes glued to her textbook. But I knew her well enough to know that she was zoning out.
