A WEEK BEFORE

While hanging out with Damiano and his bandmates, she was quick to discover that they weren't just nice to her the first time they hung out with her; much on the contrary, the better she knew them, the more she realized that they were some of the sweetest, kindest people she had ever met. They all take her in as if she had been a part of their group since forever.

Victoria is, no doubt, one of the closest people to her. She has even taken the challenge of becoming a teacher and teaching Maria how to play bass - something she had never thought she would learn in her entire life. So, tonight, while all the guys are jumping into the pool, doing weird water tricks and yelling, Maria and Victoria are sitting by the poolside, still dressed (there was no way they were going to put on any swimwear when it was so cold out) and Maria is holding a green Fender bass in her hands as Victoria attempts to explain to her some basic chord progressions. Maria absolutely sucks at this, but she doesn't complain - she very much enjoys seeing how excited Victoria is about explaining all the little details.

Victoria leans over her shoulders and moves her hands just above Maria's, so she can guide her better. From the pool, Damiano is watching them both - and Maria doesn't notice, and doesn't know it then, but Damiano is feeling very jealous of how close the two girls seem.

"I need a drink if we're gonna continue pretending that I'm learning anything." Maria says, laughing. Victoria laughs as well and she nods, clearly agreeing.

"Come on, principessa! Let's go inside and get something to drink."

Maria and Victoria walk back inside the house, and into the kitchen, and look at all the available drinks and the possible mixtures they could make. Maria decides to try a piña colada, and Victoria feels more tempted to try a mojito, so, what the hell - they end up making both. By the end of the alcohol experiment, though, the kitchen is a mess and they are almost crying from laughing too hard. They are both clumsy and most ingredientes ended up spilled on the counter. But they are proud to say that, even after all the mess, they still have two glasses full of something. Whether it's good or bad is another completely debatable subject.

Maria is the bravest one of them; she puts the glass to her lips and promptly tastes de piña colada. She lets the drink sit on her tongue for a few seconds, and then swallows it with her eyes closed.

"Oh, yeah, that's some good shit right there." She says, and Victoria laughs.

"It looks good, girl! But ok, ok - I have to try mine as well." And just like that, she drinks a sip of her mojito. Victoria doesn't taste the drink for as long as Maria did, but it's enough for her to tell that the drink really isn't that bad. "Oh. Yeah, no, that's good!"

"Right?!" Maria responds, obviously very happy and proud that she was able to make a decent cocktail. "Do you want to taste mine?"

Victoria looks at the glass, and then back at Maria, and she simply nods, but doesn't give her a verbal answer. Maria offers her the glass, and Victoria takes it from her hand, but instead of drinking a sip, she moves forward and presses a kiss to Maria's lips.

Victoria tastes of alcohol and lime, but Maria doesn't mind the taste. She eagerly kisses her back and gives her some gentle bites on her lower lip, hands reaching for her blonde hair. Victoria moans lowly into Maria's mouth and Maria can feel her body relax. The temperature seems to rise way too quickly in the room, and she feels her head spinning, and her insides twisting. This is one of the best kisses she has ever had.

When they break the kiss, they smile at each other, and Victoria is the first to speak.

"Maybe let's just keep this between us, for now?"

You agree. When you return to the poolside, the three boys are still playing in the pool and no one ever finds out what happened in the kitchen.

When Damiano asks her out, all she thinks about is the kiss she had shared with Victoria a week ago. She hasn't spoken about it since, and in honesty, she wouldn't know what to say either. Sure, she enjoyed the kiss, and she really enjoyed Vic's company, but for now, that's all it was. On the other hand, she doesn't quite feel anything for Damiano, either. Not yet, anyway. Sure, she finds him attractive and really intelligent, but they have only been slightly flirtatious towards each other, and nothing else.

Maria takes a bit too long to answer, and of course, Damiano notices it. He shifts uncomfortably on his chair and clears his throat.

"So that is a no." He says, trying to sound unphased, but Maria can tell the hurt behind his words.

"I mean, no, that's not - I was just thinking if that's a good idea, you know."

"Why would it be a bad idea?" Damiano asks, genuinely curious. "You don't have a boyfriend...?"

"Oh my god, no - I'm single." Maria answers quickly, and he sighs in relief. "I just don't wanna ruin anything, you know? You're a good friend! And I feel we got very close these weeks. I don't wanna fuck that up, you know?"

"Well, if I like you and you like me back, there is nothing to fuck up." Damiano says, and he shrugs.

"Who said I like you?" Maria teases, and Damiano leans over the table to look deep into her eyes. She shivers.

"Don't lie to me, bella. I always know when someone lies." He responds back, with a smirk on his face. He doesn't seem upset; more like he is challenging her to give him what he wants.

"What happens if I go out with you?"

Damiano looks at her for a full moment, trying to pick up the best choice of words. He wants to know what makes her tick and, mostly, he desperately wants to grab her attention. How exactly does he do that? What does she find interesting? Confidence, intelligence, sexiness? A bit of everything? Does she prefer him to chase after her, or does she want a man who only says something once?

If she asked him to, Damiano would kneel right here in the middle of this street, and he would do whatever she wanted him to.

"Se esci con me, finirai nel mio letto." (If you go out with me, you'll end up in my bed.)
