Timeline: 2018, after Ragnarok
• • • • •The compound was quiet and lay empty except for the library. The Avengers had gone on a mission that had lasted over a week. They all had been gone, except for Loki. The God of Mischief had decided to stay back believing he would cause harm to the others, which had now become one of the last things he ever wanted to do.
There was one specific Avenger that had caught his eye: [Y/N], another one of Striker's experiments the Avengers had saved. She was far more powerful than any other Avenger like Wanda, but her powers were different. Instead of a red magical glow that could control the matter around her like Wanda, she reflected it. She often created forcefields, expelling everything from her path in battles. For missions, she was the protector, which is what Loki admired most.
She was young, only about the same age as Wanda and was awfully fond of the God as well. She grew close with him and welcomed him the most when he first arrived with his brother. There were several nights where he would show her his magic and talk of Asgard. He was never one for missions after almost hurting the girl. A spell had ricocheted off of her forcefield, scaring her out of focus, and the villains had almost gotten to her with their space weapons. He never forgave himself for hindering her in battle, so then forth he promised himself to never go into battle along the girl's side.
This mission was different, however. Again, it was between space creatures and humankind, but [Y/N] wanted the God to come with because she knew he was familiar with their species. He declined her offer, stating he wasn't up for it. After a few minutes of arguing, she sighed in defeat and left with the rest of the heroes. So there the God sat, alone in the complex, lounging around in his black suit with books in his hand. For the time he was there, he rarely left the library.
They had been gone a little over a week when they had returned. Loud noises zoomed from outside of the large library and he recognized one of the noises from the Iron Man suit. He stood up, placing his book down and walked out of the room, only into chaos. Stark flew in carrying [Y/N] along with Vision, Thor, and Falcon. Steve, Wanda, Natasha, and Bucky ran behind them a few moments later. There was screaming and worry upon each and every one of their faces and they had all rushed into Mr. Stark's lab.
When Loki had approached the room, he wasn't quite sure what had happened, but it pained him. The protector lay on one of the tables, stripped from her gear, screaming in pain with the others frantically trying to heal her wounds. She was bloody and bruises, not to mention the bone from her leg was poking its way through her skin. Wanda and Vision worked at trying to stop her screaming, while the others ran ragged looking for first aid kits. [Y/N] let out a bloodcurdling scream, which launched the Avengers back away from her body, shaking the compound as the forcefield moved.
With almost all of her power, Wanda was able to silence the girl to sleep. Both her hands were at either side of the girl's ears, her red magic flowing between them. It was then they noticed the God standing in the doorway.
"Now's not the time for one of your speeches, Reindeer Games," Tony muttered, quickly swiping his hands along his hologram computer. Wanda yelped, her hands releasing themselves from where they were placed. Vision quickly placed his hand on the girl's forehead, keeping her asleep. He took one hand and comforted his love by placing it on her arm. "Witch, what's going on? Status report."
The redhead was quiet, her mouth closed shut. "She thinks she's going to die. I," She took a deep breath. "I felt all her pain." They all stood silently.
