chapter 14

March 1st, 2021

JADEN'S P.O.V.

"Look, your dad and I are here, no one will hurt you. Okay?"
"B-but I dreamed that you left me in the woods and then you drowned in the water. You can't die mommy."

She had a little smile on her face, before kissing his head.

Poor kid.

He got so scared of losing his mom.

"Do you know why we dream?"

He shook his head holding onto her hand and playing with her fingers.

"We dream because universe know that those stuff will never happen. So he put us to experience stuff in the imaginary world because we won't be able to do in reality. Okay? So that won't happen. I'm not gonna leave you ever. M'kay?"

He nodded his head, before she pulled him in hug again.

Her head was on top of his, while she looked at me with a simpathetic smile.

I shot her one back, not wanting to ruin their little moment.

"C'mon, you can cuddle with your dad and me, m'kay?"

Oh, wait, shit.
My heart was beating faster.
Is that like a family cuddles? She still wants to cuddle with me?

"C'mere buddy."

She sat him on the bed before laying her head on my shoulder again.

He laid in front of her, his head on my tummy.

Her hand softly playing with his hair, while at the same time I played with her hair.

For dinner time we ordered food and now it was around 9 pm. I was supposed to go to the hotel.

Olivia finished showering Josh and he ran up to me only in his little boxers.

"Daddy! Don't let momma make me sleep!"

He jumped up on me, before going behind my back, holding onto my shoulders.

I giggled while Olivia walked in the living room.

"C'mon J, you gotta sleep."
"But my daddy's gonna save me from you."

He stuck his tongue out to her.

"Daddy, run."

He wrapped himself around me, whispering in my ear.

I held his legs, getting up from the couch.

Olivia was now on one side of the table and we were on the other side.

She chased us around the apartment, while we were all laughing and giggling.

At some point, Josh and I finished in the corner where the doors of apartment are, and she stood in front of me.

Her face was just few inches from mine while she stood on tippy toes, grabbing Josh's body.

"Daddy, don't let her make me sleep!"
"Sorry buddy, you are all hers now."

He wouldn't let my body go, until I walked to his room.

"C'mon buddy, you gotta sleep."

He whined, letting go off my body and standing on the bed.

"Do you want to cover with both tonight or just with one?"

Olivia asked, meaning on blankets.

"One."

He laid in the bed while she tucked him in the covers and handed him his stuffed animal.

"Okay, good night baby."

She kissed his head and he pulled her back down to kiss her cheek.

He then signed me to bend down as he kissed my cheek.
I kissed his forehead, messing his hair a little.

"Good night buddy."

We left the room, he had his bathroom lights on, probably because he was scared of dark.

"I should probably get going."

I said once we were both in the living room.

"Why don't you stay the night here?"
Olivia asked as she put her hands in her back pockets.

It kinda got me off of guard, but I do not mind it.

"I-I mean, I have a guest bedroom here. You can stay there, since we are going to beach tomorrow."
"Well, okay. But I'll need to go and grab my shorts and stuff."
"Yeah, I know."

She sat on the couch and I joined her.

"Do you mind me going on the balcony to smoke?"
"Only if you don't mind me joining you."

My eyes widened while I looked at her.

"What?"
She looked at me with confused expression.
"You started smoking?"
"Noo, I just meant on going with you on balcony."
"Oh, good. I thought you started smoking."

She got up and we sat on the balcony chairs.

"Can I try?"
"Cig?"
"Yeah."
"No."
"Why?"
"Because, first of all I don't want you smoking. Second of all, I'm not gonna be the reason of your nicotine addiction."
"Oh c'mon Jaden. If I become addicted, it's my problem. You told me that if I want to try anything I should come to you. Maybe I don't even like it."
"Ugh, okay."

I handed her the cigarette.

"Do you even know how to do it?"

She shook her head shyly. The way she was holding the cigarette made my lips curve in a little smile. I remember how stupid I looked when I started smoking.

I quickly explained to her, and then waited for her to do it.

"Promise you won't laugh at me."
"Why would I?"

She inhaled, and as expected, she started coughing.

I know how is it to have people laugh at you when you first time try smoking.

"How the fuck do you do it?"
"See, it's better if you don't know."
"But I want to. I'm fucking 24 years old and I haven't tried a fucking cigarette."
"Okay then, if you want it so bad, try again. But I don't see why would you want to smoke."

I handed her back the cigarette.

She inhaled, it was better than the first time.

"So?"
"It's kinda- I don't know. Kinda tastes bad."
"Yeah, I don't like these either, but in the store they didn't have the ones I use."

"Don't look at me like that, it was enough for you. You said you wanted to try, you tried. I don't want you to ruin your precious lungs."
I said as she was previously looking at me with that look in her eyes as if she wanted me to hand her the cigarette again.
She rolled her eyes, looking the other way.

"C'mon, let's take you to the bed."

It was now midnight, and Olivia fell asleep on the chair.

I picked her up and walked to her room.

I carefully opened the doors of her room.

I moved the covers before laying her down on the bed.

She was quick to curl up in a ball before I covered her.

Before I walked out of the room I felt her grab my hand.

"Good night Jae."
"Night sweetheart."

Shit, pet name.

I quickly walked out and closed her doors.

I laid in the guest bedroom, with a smile on my face.

I'm the happiest man alive.
