ALEAH POV
I was talking to KC on the phone while I was applying to colleges. "I miss you too." I said smiling. And then she started to say something but it got cut off in mid sentence. "I decided that I-" and the call ended. The power went out. I put the phone down and grabbed me cell. 38% battery. Damn. I looked outside to see the wind blowing crazy. Oh no. The signs of s hurricane coming are simple, grey sky, warm ocean water, and high winds. The rest comes after that. I ran to the beach trying to keep the sand blowing around out of my eyes. I stopped right at the waves and waited for the water to reach my feet. Warm, warm like bath water. I just stood there, thinking. When the loudest crack of thunder I have ever heard followed by a huge bolt of lightning flashed across the sky. I screamed and ran back inside. This was gonna be a bad one. My mom pulled me in and slammed the door. We each had a bag of stuff for the Hurricanes, but we haven't had one this bad since hurricane sandy. I grabbed my laptop, my charger and my phone and stuffed them in the bad along with a blanket and some clothes. I ran downstairs and waited. My mom paced back and forth but then looked up. No go back upstairs, we don't have enough money to leave everything here and come back. Both of you upstairs now go hide in the closet and bring a blanket. I'll come up with food and water but you stay there. I threw my bag in my room and ran to my mothers closet. My brother huddled with me as we waited. She brought up some fruit, and a bottle of water. We couldn't tell how bad it would get, and this probably wouldn't be enough. Someone would have to go back downstairs. But mom, she wasn't scared. She put a blanket over us and told us to go to sleep. But I stayed wide awake thinking about one person. My dad. I'm going through hell and he isn't here. And that, pisses me off.
