Chapter 34: Family Matters.

8th September 2015, Tuesday.

Dad: Where do you want to go?

Jay: To a music festival..

(You're trying to convince your dad after what Niall said yesterday..)

*Yesterday*

Niall: Because we are going to a music festival!

Jay: To a music festival?

Niall: Long story short, My mom's boss was going with his daughter, daughter sick, gave tickets to my mom and now we are going.

Jay: Okay cool, but where are we going?

Niall: Pretty close, don't worry. We leave on Saturday morning and come back by Sunday night.

Jay: That sounds.. fun but risky.

Niall: Come on Sunchella Music Festival is happening so close to us for the first time! We gotta go! (He drags you into a corner)

And the best part? You, Me, Alone in a tent for a whole night.. (The way he says it sends shivers down your spine)

Jay: You know I'm dating someone right?

Niall: Fake dating. So you jn?

Jay: Hmm. (You pretend to think)

I'm in. But gotta convince my dad first. After that I'll give you the final answer.

Niall: Even if he says no we will run away.

Jay: Do you WANT me to be homeless?

(He laughs)

Niall: I'll wait for the answer..

*Back to present*

Dad: That sounds risky.

Jay: I know, but don't worry it's a really safe event.

Dad: Yeah "safe" where all the teens smoke and do some "coke".

Jay: Dad.. You know me, Do you really think I'll do that?

Dad: It's not about you it's about bad outer influences.

Jay: I can't be away from bad influences all my life, so what's the point now?

Dad: In the future you'll be an adult.

Jay: Dad I'm Seventeen- What's the last time I begged for going to a Music Festival? Yeah that's right, NEVER. I have never judged your decisions but I'm Seventeen now and I want to see a bit of the outside.. is it that bad?

Dad: You sound like I lock you up.

Jay: I.. (You silence yourself)

Mom: George.. He is right.

Dad: Please, you always take his side.

Mom: Always? (She glares at him)

Dad: Okay not always but-

Mom: But what? If he sounds like he is locked up maybe he is?

Dad: I give him plenty of freedom.

Mom: Freedom as in?

Dad: He can go wherever he wants to, I'm not stopping him unless it's out of the town.

Mom: Even in town, the only place he can go to at night is Sara's house and that was when they were our neighbors! The other places are School and Birthdays, That's it.

Dad: I sent him to Summer Camp?

Mom: That was school related. And it was ME who asked you to send him.

Dad: I sent him with Bradley the other day.

Mom: That's because you wanted Jay to Impress his parents. What's the last time you prioritized Jay's happiness?

Dad: You're making me sound like a jailor!

Mom: If it sounds like that maybe you ARE!

Jay: Okay okay that's enough! (They finally take a deep breath)

I don't want you two to fight, it's okay I won't go.. I have lived like this for 17 years, what's wrong with one more year. Right dad?

It's time for my school.. I should go. (You get up and head out..)

Dad: Jay. (You stop)

Jay: What now?

Dad: I'm sorry, Your mom is right, I should be more trusting towards my son. You can go.

Jay: Wait really?

Dad: Yes. But don't make me regret my decision.

Jay: I won't! (You walk towards your mom and hug her)

Thank you Mom.

Mom: Don't even mention it.

Jay: And.. Thanks Dad. (He nods and starts reading the newspaper again)

Okay bye you two.

Mom: Bye! (You giddily walk out towards Sara's car)

Sara: Someone is happy today.

Jay: How long have you been here?

Sara: Ehh about three minutes. Tried to go in, heard angry voices and ran back here, was too scared to even call you. Everything good?

Jay: It is now. Let's go! (You climb in and she starts the car)

Sara: So.. Why are you so happy?

Jay: You'll find out. (You call Niall and he immediately picks it up)

Niall: Hey.

Jay: Wow someone is impatient.

Niall: Always when it comes to you.

So… Is it bad news or good news?

Jay: Oh I'm sorry Niall..

Niall: Oh- It's fine.. I'll give the tickets to someone else-

Jay: Just kidding, we are going.

Niall: We are?

Jay: Yep.

Niall: Hell yes! If you were here I would kiss you right now.

Jay: I hope you are alone while saying this stuff. Anyway, meet you in school.. Bye.

Niall: Bye.. (You hang up)

Sara: Where ARE you going?

Jay: ..Sunchella.

Sara: SUNCHELLA MUSIC FESTIVAL?! Alone?

Jay: With Niall..

Sara: *Gasp* Romantic! Man.. wish I could too.

Jay: Who's stopping you?

Sara: You're right.. no one is! I'll talk to Mom about this as soon as possible. Maybe Bradley can come too! He is hella rich, he will get the tickets. But.. What about You and Niall? Won't we interrupt you two?

Jay: I don't really care, And we will have our own tent so..

Sara: Oooh steamy! (You two laugh)

Maybe I'll talk to Bradley first, when is the festival again?

Jay: This Saturday.

Sara: This Saturday..

Okay then..
