Writing Jay was a delight, he is such grounded character. His journey starts from a depressing point and it's nice to see him grow. Jay was made to be a little aware of.. Book tropes. I didn't want him to be like another "Oh I'm so innocent" protagonists. I was kinda tired of "love Interest's" being a photographer. So I made Jay into photography. He doesn't let the love Interest treat him without agency and I really admired that as I wrote it.

Where do I start with Niall? I wanted him to be like those stereotypical "bad mysterious boy" at the start of the book. But I wanted to quickly fade out this facade and make it clear he's isn't a stereotypical love Interest. In some ways I think Niall is softer than Jay which I really liked. I wanted him to be very respectful and consensual. And I wanted him to be the "flaw" in this story, usually it's the protagonist overcoming their flaws, and I know it makes Jay kinda boring in comparison, but it's something I'll explore in the future (🤫)

Sara is so fun to write. She's witty, funny and kinda my self insert. She's definitely the "comic relief" And a lot of my fourth walk breaks were from her. She's Jay support system and while everything between them is platonic, I wanted to show how much the idea of "being together" is forced upon them. Her feelings while explored in only 1 chapter (Chapter 28) really cemented her struggles for me. And I definitely want to explore her happy-go-lucky persona in the future.

Oh Bradley.. The "Antagonist" of this story. I wanted him to be established as the "opposite" of Niall. While Niall was scared of commitment, Bradley was ready to accept everything. I didn't want Bradley to be a "Jealous" villain. He is just a guy who made a mistake, and went to big lengths to keep those mistakes hidden. And yes, he does truly love Jay. Will he return in the future? Who knows?👀 . . .
So that's it. I'm really happy people liked this story. And it gave me the confidence to do more. So expect some things soon!
