Part 20

Brett was waiting for over three hours now for the witch. The guard told him he just wanted to smoke a little bit so he stupidly assumed Eddy would be back way earlier, but it seemed he miscalculated a bit. And by a bit he meant big time.

He had a blanket in his hand for Eddy if he was cold. He looked at the opening again. No one sane would press themselves through it; it was a holy place for witches.

Eddy slipped out of the shrine carefully as to not feel any pain in his ass. He looked around, immediately spotting Brett. Oh so he was waiting here, not in their tent or somewhere, "Oh you are right here..."

When the witch came through in between the two stones, Brett sprang to his feet.

"Yes, I was waiting for you. Are you cold?"

He held up the blanket and gave Eddy a once over. It seemed he was not really welcomed anymore. The dismissiveness of the sentence was immense. Maybe Eddy didn't want anything to do with him anymore? Brett gulped at that; hopefully not. Everything went so smoothly before they had their union, so why did it turn out like this now?

He had no idea, but he would leave the witch alone if he wanted that. And for Brett it was quite clear Eddy wanted that. Brett cleared his throat and looked down.

Eddy took the blanket gingerly as he flashed Brett a small smile, "Thank you for thinking about me. But what about you, are you cold?"

He lifted the blanket a bit to invite the Khanzadeh under before they would head back.

"I didn't think it would take so long, didn't mean to keep you waiting."

But Brett shook his head and even stepped back.

"No, no, witch, I am fine. I will accompany you now to the tent if you don't mind. Or do you want to visit the other witch?"

Brett didn't meet Eddy's eyes, he stared firmly onto the ground. It was probably better anyway. He would just bring the witch to the tent and then leave to sleep somewhere else. It was shameful to be booted out of his own tent but what could he do? Nothing. And he would not fight it of course.

His resolve not to touch the witch if he didn't want to, would not be shaken. He just needed to endure it a small while until Eddy's eyes would wander and he would choose a different partner. One that Eddy liked more. It was clearly not Brett he liked, even if the witch told him as much.

Brett just had to endure that for a small amount of time, so it would be fine. At least that was what he told himself and almost believed.

"Brett, I know tonight has been kinda sucky, same with today but tomorrow will be better. I promise." Eddy fought the urge to apologise there and then, "I didn't mean to make you feel rejected on a night that's supposed to be special."

He tried to find the right words, ugh he was still such a push over that wanted to make Brett happy, "I didn't think it would go this way either but it did. It's going to be okay."

Brett refrained from saying something undignified and unwanted. Instead he cleared his throat and took another step back.

"Thank you for your concern, witch, but like I said, I am fine. It is late, so it might be better to go to sleep now. It will be a pretty busy day tomorrow and... yes. Pretty busy," he repeated. It was not like he could demand that the witch would go into the tent and sleep instantly, even if Brett wished for it. "And you made your intentions and wishes more than clear, so I will of course obey. Do not worry about it anymore."
