Part 45

Eddy was still in the shrine when Brett came back, just right after lunch.

The god had forced Eddy to take small breaks here and there to clear his thoughts and to get some food and drinks, so Eddy was well taken care of.

Brett was a bit roughened up. His men and he sniffed out two dozen bandits, which he all decapitated by himself. The heads were spiked in the village and after they bled out so the house wouldn't smell of blood. They were kinda boiled so it wouldn't attract too many flies and then placed in the stone house. Brett took great care to arrange them. They were turned to the bed where the couple slept and much fixing was done by Brett to make them seem perfect.

His wife liked heads, not flowers. Otherwise he would have let the woman decorate them in flower-crowns. But that was not the case. His wife was a bloody one even if he was timid in every other aspect.

The Khanzadeh smiled at his thoughts. He took great pleasure in getting Eddy more gifts. The more gifts he got for Eddy, the happier the witch was going to be. His small cuts, bruises and injuries were taken care of as well, and he even took a dip to smell fresh and clean - because Eddy liked that! - before he went to meet his wife. He knew the god held Eddy not-hostage in the shrine and he would have to wait until Eddy came out.

The prince smiled as he came up to the torii gate, a small snack in hand, and he sat down, leaning against the gate. He wasn't allowed entrance when the curtains were down and to announce his arrival wasn't necessary since he didn't need anything immediate from the witch or the god. If he was deadly injured it was another case, but now it was just that Brett wanted to spend his time with his wife.

So, while Brett waited, Shiro looked up. He could easily see and feel the energy of the Khanzadeh. Eddy was bent over a slip of paper, writing a blessing as the god told him to.

Gently, one of his tails stroked over Eddy's back.

"Your husband to be is here.

He brought snacks and drinks for you.

Do you want to meet him?"

"I want to meet him, yes," Eddy's features softened when he heard that Brett was there and waiting. He thought of it as sweet, "If you're willing to dismiss me that is."
He wanted to go see Brett, he would love to do that even but he didn't want to go without permission. It would be disrespectful to disregard the god.

"We can pick up your training any time, so do not worry about it.

If you want, then We can call it a day and you can spend time with your husband.

We know he has a surprise for you.

You will love it."

Of course Shiro knew Eddy hated the heads but it was too funny. Poor Eddy, poor Brett, who was in for a rude awakening, and poor bandits. Well, no, scratch that, the bandits were better dead.
