Part 28

Eddy looked to all the women once his Khanzadeh had left and smiled softly, "So good news, you can come back to the Yang tribe with me."

He kept his soft smile as he announced this information.

The women shared a look. Nyla was the brave one this time to speak up. She was a dirty blonde woman who had no children so far.

"Will... Ho-How will we live there? Is it like here?" she asked in a subdued voice. "Do we need to serve the men as well?"

"No you won't have to serve any men there. They are traveling to their stone village so there you will simply help with things, like you have with me. Most manwhores get weeded out pretty quickly there," Eddy remembered how the first dude he met surrounded by ladies was later served to him on a silver platter. They did seem to die quite quickly, which was probably a good thing.

Idunna spoke up as well, "But we are sick and not healthy. How will they feed us? Will they even feed us? And no one of us is specialized in anything. We will not contribute to the people there. We will only be noisy and hungry. And make them sick as well most likely. We are very, very grateful, witch, do not get us wrong, but how will we be of value if we do nothing for them as well? The only thing we know is to ..." she shuddered, "... to serve men and eat humans. We are simply not worthy."

"Yes they will feed you, there is enough food for you and they're also going to be drying a lot of fish while here so there will be enough. The village has 150 people altogether, there is enough to teach you any skills you'd want to learn, plus it's not just protected by my god but another one. For there is another witch, Neha. With two gods and two witches, healing is easier and so is containing sicknesses. Plus there are also shrines which give the gods more energy from what I understand. You will be of no harm to them, so do not fear those things." Eddy thought they were getting better daily with just Shiro being here with not as much energy, being under two gods that were energized would help them a lot more.

Idunna shook her head, "We understand, I understand, but ... What if we do not contribute? In this tribe we knew what we were supposed to be doing, but in the new one? I fear they will see that we are not worthy and will kick us out. Then we have even less than now. Please witch, why can't you tell your Khanzadeh we want to die too? Take the children, but kill the rest, please!"

Idunna had tears in her eyes. It was clear she didn't want to die, but it was cruel to give them hope and then - maybe - they would lose everything? That would break them.

"Idunna, listen to me. They are here to help, not to abandon any of you. From what I know of my Khanzadeh is that he is kind, he will not give you something to just rip it under your feet. He is an honorable man who keeps his word. If you are willing to learn then you will contribute, if you learn, then what you fear will not come to pass. Your children need you, to know a mother's loving touch and the smile upon her face. Not to grow up in a stranger's arms. Do not quit before it has begun. You are all strong women, and your lives will be your own so try not to fear." Eddy kept his tone even, it was hard to tell someone so hurt not to fear because the pain made it so it was expected.
