I drew the blood all over his mouth. Perfect, I thought. "Autumn, dinner time!" my dad called. "Be there in a minute." I called. I placed my sketch on my desk for me to color later. I made my way downstairs and went into the dining room. "There you are, I was afraid that you'd be in your room forever." said Helen, my step-mom. I rolled my eyes. "Yea, what do you do up there anyway?" my step-brother Logan asked. "None of your business." I said. "None of your business." Logan mocked. "Hey, hey! Let's just eat in peace, for one night." my dad said. I groaned and ate some of Helen's disgusting food. Under cooked mashed potatoes, and dried steak. Gag. I quickly excused myself and went to my room to start a new sketch. I was halfway into it when Logan barges in. "Whoa, what are you doing? You're into some freaky stuff." "Yea, well get out." I said. "You know, it was you and your father who moved in, not us. We're family now, so I can come in." he said. "Get out!" I shouted. "Chill!" he said running out. I smirked, and continued to sketch.

After half an hour, I put my sketchpad up. There was something I always did before going to bed. I pulled a worned out photo from underneath my pillow and kissed it. "Hey mama," I whispered. Tears spilled down my cheek and onto the photo. I missed my mother dearly, in fact, she was the one who got me hooked on vampires. She'd tell me all these fascinating stories, and we'd always dress up like like them on Halloween. We watched Count Dracula, and the first Twilight movie that came out. Her stories were so interesting that I just had to tell everyone in elementary school. I'd add in something to make it more interesting to capture the attention of the sixth graders. My mom and I had a strong relationship, but that one day changed everything.

I remember like it was yesterday. I was in ninth grade, French to be exact. "Autumn Huntington, please report to the office." said the voice from the P.A. system. Puzzled, I got up and walked to the office. The principle, Mrs. Wallen had told me the news. "Autumn, we're sorry to inform you, but your mother died this morning. She was hit by a truck, they didn't see her coming. It was an accident. We're sorry." she said, tears trailed down her cheeks, I remember how she and my mother were close friends. "You must have mistaken me for another person." I said in shock. "No honey, it was your mom. Anna." I couldn't speak. It was like my feet were glued to the floor. "Would you like me to call your father?" she asked. I nodded slightly. Five minutes later he came, and embraced me tightly. "Daddy, is true?" I said. His face was red, he nodded. 'Mr. Huntington, Autumn can go home if she wishes to." Mrs. Wallen said. "I want to." I said. I had to brace myself for the stares in the classroom when I came back to get my stuff, then I quickly walked out, and went home.

"Mom, I just want to say I love you, a lot. I'm hanging on, really tight, especially with Helen's dinner's." I said chuckling. "Goodnight mom." I said. I placed the photo back underneath my pillow, turned the light off and went to sleep.
