I stayed home from school for like a week. It felt weird knowing that I wouldn't be waiting for my mom around 5 every evening. My dad and I bonded, we shopped, went to the movies, and had other family members console us. When I felt ready to go back to school, I went and was smothered by everyone's condolences, including those of my best friends, Austyn, and Charlotte. I kept hearing "I'm sorry for your loss," "Hey, are you okay?" "Is there anything I can do?" "Your mom was the best, it's too bad to hear that she's gone." I continued through the day as it was any other ordinary day, at lunch Austyn and Charlotte came to my table as quick as possible. "Hey, Autumn...are you trying out for soccer this year?" Austyn asked. "I dunno, I might.." I said looking at my food. "Well, we'd love you to join, we're gonna do it. Plus I heard the coach was hot!" said Charlotte. I half smiled, it was up to Charlotte to make everyone laugh. "Yea, it sounds good too, on your college application." said Austyn. "Guys, we're in ninth grade, do we really need to think about this now?" I said. "Well, no." said Charlotte, frowning. "Sorry, Char. It's just..you know." I said.

When I got home, I was surprised to find out that my dad wasn't there, but that my grandma was. "Hello dear." she said. "Hey, nana." I said dropping my bookbag. "Your father went out, with your aunt to plan the funeral." she said. "Oh," was all I could say. 'How was school today?" she asked. "Oh, it was okay. I'm going to go watch Vampire DIairies, if that's okay." I said heading to living room. "Autumn..." my nana called. "Yes?" I said turning around to face her. "May I join?" she said. I smiled.

After completing season two, nana and I went into the kitchen to make ice cream sundaes. "You know, your mom and I used to make ice cream sundaes all the time. As soon as she came home from school." Nana said. "She told me, she said that you were the best mom ever for that." I said smiling. I could imagine my mother and my nana eating ice cream together, giggling, while my mom told nana who was the cutest boy in school and who was the meanest girl. I wiped away a tear. "Autty, you know she is in a better place. You know that right?" my nana said. "Of course, I just wish it wasn't so soon." I said. "Don't worry, it may have not been her time to go, but I know that she is happy, looking down at you." Nana said. That made me smile. At the same moment, dad walked in with dinner and my aunt.

We sat at the table and talked about how much my mom loved purple Irises. We talked about how she was an amazing story teller. Dad said she was hooked on vampires. That's where I got it from. Honestly, talking about my mother made me feel really good. We only had amazing things to say about her, after dinner, we said our goodbyes and I headed off to bed.
