"Autumn, I went to your school to pick you up. You weren't there, where were you?" He asked sternly. "I ... I got picked up by Cody. I went over to his house for a bit to meet his mom." I said. "Cody?"  "Yeah, my friend." I said flushing. He paused. "Boyfriend." I said. "How come I've never heard of him?" He asked. "He's new, he came here like almost a month ago, from Washington." "You didn't bother to discuss this with me?" "I didn't think it was a big deal, he's really nice." I said. "Well I'm sure of that, but I don't want you going around sneaking behind my back." "I wasn't! I told Char I wasn't going to practice, and to tell coach." I said. Great, I blew my secret. "So you didn't go to practice!? You lied to go sneaking around with some guy?!" He yelled. "Dad calm down he's great. I wanted to meet his mom that's all. I really love him." "Oh you don't even know what love is Autumn. I don't want you around a boy I haven't met. You're grounded! You're slipping up already-" "Oh my god, it was one flipping day dad. Besides since when did you start caring about my life?" I shouted trying not to cry. "I have always cared about you Autumn. I want what's best for you and I'm not going to have you running around with some trouble making hooligan. You could end up pregnant." He said. "OH REALLY? WELL IF YOU CARED YOU WOULDN'T BE BUYING TAKE OUT EVERY NIGHT, YOU'D TAKE TIME OFF OF WORK TO HANG WITH ME, YOU'D ACTUALLY BE THERE AT MY GAMES, MY RECITALS, YOU BLOW EVERYTHING IMPORTANT OF MINE OFF FOR WORK. I LOVE CODY LIKE YOU LOVED MOM, YOU DON'T KNOW MY LIFE DAD, YOU DON'T. I HATE YOU." I screamed and ran to my room. I sank to the floor and cried, I really needed mom. I pulled out her photo and smiled. "It's been rough mom. I know dad is trying his hardest to keep the family together, but I just want him to be there for me. I know if you were alive, you would be at every game. I feel like I have such a huge burden to carry. I hope dad will realize how much that I need him." I kissed the photo and tucked it away under my pillow and pulled out my phone. I texted Cody: "Come over tomrrow after school. Urgent."
