Chapter 13

I was pretty glad today was Friday, because I was going to the beach with Austyn and Char. I had just gotten out of the shower, and had thrown on an old gray sweatshirt, sweatpants, and slippers. I tied my hair in a messy bun and slugged my backpack over my shoulder. "Bye dad." I said grabbing a piece of toast and running out the door. Austyn laughed as soon as she saw me. "You look like you just got out of bed." she joked. "Eh, didn't want to waste energy this morning, got a big science test." I replied. "Oh, I took it yesterday, you need to know about submerged aquatic vegetation. Anyway, ready for the beach later?" she asked beaming. "Duh, I can finally get a tan." I said examining my pale skin. "Honey, don't even bother, you'll always be pale." Austyn said as we got on the bus. Char was there, she smiled at us. "I'm so excited, I got this cute bikini." "Same, mine has fangs all over it." I said.

When we arrived at school, I parted from Char and Austyn and ran to my locker. Cody was early again. "Wow, you look gorgeous." he said. "I'm in sweats." I said opening my locker. "Doesnt matter what you're wearing, still hot." he said. I rolled my eyes and grabbed my French binder. "Any plans after school?" he asked me as we walked to French. "Beach." I said. "Mind if I tag along?" he asked. As I took my seat, I shrugged. "Aw, c'mon. Don't you wanna see me shirtless?" he said smirking. I punched his arm playfully.

Cody came to our table at lunch. "Hey guys, I'm going to the beach with you." he said as he bit into a carrot. Austyn and Char exchanged confused glances, then looked at me. "He's never been to the beach." I said. "That makes no sense." Char said looking at Cody. "It's sad, isn't it?" Cody said turning red.

Everyone agreed to meet at my house since Kylie was taking us. It was until Sunday morning we'd be staying. I was all packed, and Austyn came to my house with her duffle bag, bikini already on. A few minutes Char arrived in a cute bikini, it was a neon green. I was a little shy, so I had on a light T-shirt and shorts. Kylie had on shorts and a tank top. It was Cody who arrived last.
Kylie lowered her sunglasses, "Wow, he's a hunk." she whispered. He got out of the car and I watched as his mother waved and drove off. "Let's hop in!" Kylie said getting in the drivers seat. Unfortunately, Austyn called shotgun, so I was wedged between Cody and Char. It was really awkward.

When we got to the beach, we checked into the hotel and threw our stuff down and ran out to the beach. I was too excited to realize that Cody was here and quickly pulled my shorts down, and took my top off. I took my hair out of a braid and let it come down in blonde waves, which cascaded down my back. Char was already in the water. "Come in, it's so warm!" she said.
All of a sudden, I was swept off my feet and thrown into the water. "Ack!" I said as I rose to surface. Cody rose to surface after to me. I swam over to Austyn who was floating on an inflatable pizza float. "I think that I'm going to enjoy this weekend, now that Cody is here." I said gushing.
