I felt like a failure, how could I screw up my mom's funeral like that. I knew she would have wanted me firmly on the ground sharing my eulogy. My dad said his goodbyes, and gave some people kisses then walked over to the car and got in. "Dad- I can explain. I'm so so sorry. I never meant to-" "It's okay Autumn. I get it, I appreciate that you tried your best. Your mother is so proud of you. Now come on, let's get ice cream. That'll cheer you up."
When we arrived to Ben and Jerry's dad and I talked about how mom loved Americone Dream. "Honey, I think it's time for you to go back to school." my dad said. "You think? Well...I guess you're right..I'm missing out on a lot. I don't know though." I said taking a spoonful of ice cream. He was right though, I had missed another week of school. "Don't worry, you'll be fine. I'm sure everyone misses you. I'm sure your friends are desperate to see you. Please tell me you're going." he said smiling. I haven't seen my dad smile in a while so I gave in. "Okay, I'll go back." I said returning the smile.
