Cody and I walked to Monsieur Bordeaux's class. "Bonjour Huntington, we missed you." he said. "Bonjour, merci." I said taking my regular seat. Fortunately, Cody was placed next to me. "Alright, we'll begin by opening our books to page 37. We're starting a new chapter, on food." Monsieur Bordeaux said. "So when did you move here?" I asked turning pages in my book. "Maybe two weeks ago? It was during the time you were out." Cody said. "Oh cool." I said finally arriving at page 37. "So why were you out?" he asked. I flinched. "If I may ask." he added. I hesitated, trying not to cry. "M-my mom passed away. From a car accident." I said. "I'm sorry. I know how it feels." Cody said. "You do?" I asked. "I lost my father in a tragic accident as well." he said. "I'm so sorry." I said glancing at his necklace. "That's a cool necklace." I said. "Oh this thing, it was passed down to me. It was my father's." he said twirling the necklace in his hand. It was silver with a jade gem on it, beautiful. I also noticed the ring on his hand. "And the ring?" I asked. "Also been in the family," he said. "Mademoiselle Huntington, we are happy you're back, but I encourage you to pay attention, you've missed out on a lot." Monsieur Bordeaux said. "Désolé, Monsieur." I said, cheeks flushed.

After school, I met Cody at my locker. "Autumn, I was wondering if maybe you and I could hang?" he asked. "Oh, I've got soccer practice today." I said grabbing my soccer bag from my locker. Yes I actually decided to join. "No worries, I can watch." Cody said. "Your mom won't get mad?" I said tying my long hair into a ponytail. "Nah, she's never really home anyway. So can I watch?" he asked. "Sure, come on." I said leading him towards the gym. "Why don't you go outside and wait for me on the bleachers." I said. "Can't I just go in the locker room with you?" he asked smirking. "Haha, funny. I'll be out soon, see ya." I said going in the locker room. I was greeted by my friends Austyn and Charlotte. "AUTUMN." they said in unison. "What?" I said. "We saw you with Cody, on your way to French, in between classes, and at lunch." Austyn said. "And?" I said blushing. "You guys are totally clicking. We ship you two." Char said. I put on my soccer uniform and gave my laces one last tight tug. "You think he likes me? I mean we just met." I said grabbing my water bottle. "Uh, yes! He made it so obvious. He loves you." Austyn said. "Hm. I'm not sure I'm ready to be with him. I met him 6 hours ago." I said chuckling. We exited out the back door and onto the field. "Huntington, Strewer, Bates, you're late." said Coach Maverick. "Sorry, sir." I said. "Ah, we missed you Autumn." said Coach Maverick. I turned a deep red, they were right, he's hot. I've only met him once before I found out my mom died. At first he wasn't going to let me on the team for not being here but everyone convinced him. He gazed at me with piercing blue eyes.

We got out on the field and did our routines and exercises, such as kicking, defense and tricks to use when you're goalie. Cody was on the bleachers cheering us on. "Autumn, what is he doing here?!" a girl named Maeve said. She was my friend in fourth grade. "I don't know. Why?" I asked. "He's so cute. I noticed he kept looking at you. I saw when I was on the bench." she said. I blushed. I felt bad for Maeve, she had a lung problem and she really wanted to be on the team. Coach Maverick said yes, but she had to sit out most of the time.
Cody leapt down the bleacher stairs and ran up to me. "Hey, I got to get going, but I was thinking, maybe we can go to the movies sometime?" he said smiling at me. "His dimples made me give in. "Okay, sounds good. Bye Cody!" I said waving, and with that he ran off. When I turned around, my whole team stared at me. "What?" I asked.
