Chapter 34
The kids gathered in front of Vihaan's car as he had promised to drop them off at the station. While Dheeraj and Arjun assisted in loading the suitcases into the trunks of the Bundela family's two cars, Shaurya stood in a corner, watching the children leave, especially Shalini, who was distraught for a variety of reasons.
Sanchi came near Vihaan, hugged each of their twins, kissed their foreheads, and wished them a safe journey. "Babies, ta-ke care of your-selves."
"I'm a grown-up, mom. I'm no longer a baby. I know how to look after myself." Prachi gave Rehaan a disapproving look as he whined in a nagging tone. "Dad, please tell your favorite daughter that she cannot control me for what I say or do.".
Vihaan drew Prachi near and instructed her by holding her chin. "Pihu, how many times I've told you not to prohibit your brother in anything he tries to obtain. Simply grab him by the shirt and slap him. . ."
"Vih, why are you teach-ing my disciplined Pihu vio-lent tactics in time to incor-porate your traits in her?" Sanchi slapped him across the back. "Can't you teach th-em some better problem-solving tech-niques?"
"Sanchi, I want my kids to be the best in the world, with no fear. I want them to have all the strength they need to confront the most difficult situations in their lives with ease," Vihaan continued. "I want them to be so impactful that they can surpass any obstacle in a flash. I'd want for them. . ."
"They're ju-st ten years old, Vih. They'll learn it wh-en they grow old-er." Sanchi cut him off and turned to face Prachi. "Pihu, you sho-uld ignore your father's aw-ful advice or you may beco-me arrogant and unplea-sant like him."
"Hickory–" Vihaan clenched his teeth and whispered into her ear. "Why are you making fun of me in front of our twins? What visual impression will they have of me?"
Sanchi whispered back, "They alre-ady have an impre-ssion formed in their heads. Will you li-ke to hear?"
"Will you please stop arguing and bid us farewell, mom and dad?" While the twins called out in unison, Sanchi drew them into her embrace, while Vihaan instinctively wrapped his arms around the three of them.
Sanchi whispered in a shaky voice, "Pihu, Rihu– you sho-uld never utter that 'fare-well' word again. Can't you ins-tead seek for our bless-ings?"
Vihaan strongly recommended, "Kids, keep in mind that your parents will be worried for you the entire time you'll be away from us. Contact the authorities if you find yourself in danger at the camp or unable to deal with any negative scenario on your own. They know me personally and will gladly assist you."
"Of cou-rse, papa, we love you bo-th." Prachi clasped her parents' fingers in her palms, and Rehaan nodded, joining them in the family embrace.
"I love the three of you as well." Sanchi rolled her eyes as Vihaan reciprocated.
"Three?" Prachi and Rehaan asked in unison, a look of perplexity on their faces.
"Three, your mother and you two." Sanchi elbowed her arm into Vihaan's tummy as he spoke in a playful tone, and the twins burst out laughing.
Shalini caught Shaurya's eyes in genuine grief as the children took their seats in a joyful mood. When Shaurya noticed her staring at him, he hurried up to her, drew her into a tight embrace, and mumbled into her ear. "I love you, Shai. Take care of yourself, and I promise to give you your father when you return."
"I'll wait for you to keep your promise." Shalini stepped out of his arms and began walking towards the car. "Bye, Shay."
Vihaan restarted the engine while both siblings screamed towards Sanchi. "We will miss you."
